McFini frowned. Who was this person and how did he know so much? Was this some New Republic ploy? A random blackmailer? What did a person have to gain by luring out three Star Destroyers away from Bilbringi? Whatever it is, I don't like it... Leaning back in his chair, he shook his head and said, "I don't know who you are, what you're up to or what you're claiming, but you're in no position to be asking me to devote military assets on what is little more than a hoax and boisterous claim." Bringing up all recent intel reports, McFini saw no mention of a rogue vessel in any of the nearby systems or even in or near all of Federation space that matched the size of a battleship. "I'm not seeing any sign of this mutual problem you're speaking about but I'm a reasonable person so I'll give you some friendly advice before I close this connection: Come up with a better hoax next time."

Hitting the button on the comm, McFini closed the connection and swiftly contacted the ISIS and forwarded them the conversation he had. He saw no reason to deploy ships to a location he wasn't even being provided. The whole thing sounded like a really poorly thought out trap and McFini wasn't buying it.

Tyr looked at the two girls who had been out of sight. "So, your bunch like this usually?" he asked teasingly. "Though I don't blame his reactions, we have been essentially invisible for so long."

Helen you able to bypass his annoying answering protocols? Also do a double connection...Tyr scrolled through their list of intelligence. "Helen, on the secondary connection his Crystala E. Unless something has changed, she is still director of their intelligence department aka ISIS. Route it through Agent Zeta-98672's holo. She would have the capability to get both of them on the line."

Helen's interface hologram looked at Tyr, "I take it dial up AZ-98672 first?" after seeing Tyr nod affirmative, she complied. "This better work, we are on a running clock."

A female appeared, "Commander, I hope this is important. Especially for risking my cover. What is going on?"

"Agent, good to see you again! Sakura, I don't have time to waste and neither do you. The Myrderi have a plan to attack us and have taken over the Providence here in Excelsior. As you know, it could theoretically take out ICE. At least prevent them from leaving. Long story short, Captain T'nir has some compatriots that are all in league with the Myrderi plot. Now, unless we get that ship destroyed ASAP; the things around here will get a lot hotter! This is my authorization..."

Agent Sakura eyed the authorization, The Sotaicho! This definitely gives a perspective on this affair. "So, we are sure this isn't some small problem, like 2 centuries ago?"

"Affirmative, Sakura."

"Alright, I will do it! I will get my extraction set, meet you at R-056 when this is done."

Crystala got a notification of direct and Code Red contact from one of her long term, albeit low-attention, internal security agents. Simultaneously, Admiral McFini got a similar ISIS call...

McFini didn't have long to wait before he was contacted again. The conversation was short and brief and it turns out there actually did exist a battleship, but why was this all happening now? What sort of coincidence was occurring to make this happen? Breathing a sigh, he contacted Aurora and said, "Guess there's been a change of plan Commander. Take three Star Destroyers and whatever escort vessels you need and be warned, it seems you're going to be squaring off against a battleship..."

"A... battleship sir?" the concern in her voice would have been followed with a request for more vessels but McFini cut her off at the pass.

"We seem to have some allies... When you arrive in the system, contact Tyr Anazazi and he can give you the particulars. Make no mistake, I've no interest in losing ships or stumbling into a trap so make whatever judgements you deem necessary to minimize damage to your vessels. If it's worse than I'm being lead to believe, you have permission to withdraw from the system but the ISIS seems to think three Star Destroyers will be enough." McFini wasn't terribly convinced of that, but he didn't even have full intel on the vessel and he suspected he only person who did was this Tyr fellow. And how much can I trust a person who knows more about me than I know of him?

"Very well sir," Aurora responded, "Commander Sunfell out." The channel closed, McFini turned to look out the viewport where the assortment of vessels were already maneuvering into position for the jump to lightspeed. "I don't like this..."

"Hmmm..." Charal nodded ever so slightly.

Tyr contacted the Admiral again, "Now, I take it that you are being more cooperative. Alright, here is the specifications of what you are going against. Now, I suggest getting to the attached coordinates ASAP. Cause, we only have a window of opportunity of...10 more hours till this ship is fully operational again. In which case, we both will have a much bigger problem."

The Admiral's display uploaded and displayed the file.

"Now, to make sure there are no misunderstandings, if your task force is late than it can probably finish them off. With repairable damage. Now, to explain how this works, STORM modules are...like a multiple barrel device. However, instead of being once cannon with multiple barrels it is best described as multiple cannons in one unit. The tactic you can expect to see if it comes online, is a burst fire of all the barrels at a maximum rate of 1 Million RPM equivalent. Yes, more than enough power to punch through your or our shields so as obliterate the target.

Now, I managed to get the hyperdrive, shields, engines and weapon systems offline for the next 10 hours. However, the ordinance launching systems are probably going to be back online by the time we get there. In which case, how are your ships against high-kinetic energy munitions? If your particle deflectors fail, a single missile can take out large holes. Their targets would be the traditional soft spots: sensors, engines, hangars, control centers etc. Oh! One last thing, the Providence is carrying 5 prototype missiles. You shouldn't have to worry about them. If they are fired there is a 50%, worst case scenario, chance of the missile bypassing your defenses entirely and emerging inside of your ship. The warhead would destroy the vessel.

When the ISDs come in, they must be in close formation and concentrate their fire on one spot no bigger than 10 meters diameter. Figters and bombers need to attack simultaneously. There shouldn't be much to worry about with respect to anti-fighter/bomber fire. Those defenses would be also offline. Do you follow?"

"Looks like the rebel transport," McFini mused aloud at the visual of the so-called battleship. I swear, Kane is probably pulling a practical joke on me or something... The Emperor didn't strike McFini as the sort of person to have a sense of humour, but he had been surprised before. "'With repairable damage'?" McFini asked, his voice sounding unimpressed. He had listened to the entire description Tyr had provided him and McFini wasn't sure if the random bits of technology was coming from a science fiction holo or the man had simply watched too many cheesy holomovies at the holoplex. "Commander, are you getting all this?"

Aurora sounded just as unimpressed as McFini but her voice had a slight edge of fear to it as she was the one risking her life against this vessel and if it did possess the technology Tyr was claiming it did... "I'm getting it sir. I'm going to use bombers to make a pass at its weapon systems first and foremost. Anything that resembles a gun is going to be priority target."

McFini nodded. She was learning quickly. "Good idea. Also, use magpulse ordinance and ion torpedoes to keep that thing as disabled as possible. I'd rather err on the side of caution and pummel the thing to dust and recover bits for analysis for later than try to bother capturing it to begin with." A beeping signaled that the fleet was in position to jump. "Force be with you Commander..."

"Thanks Admiral." The Star Destroyers and escorts made the jump to lightspeed.

"It is just me, or did she sound like those were going to be the last words she'll ever speak to me?" Glancing over at the guard, McFini sighed at the lack of response.

Aboard the ISD Shiva, Aurora reviewed the supposed intel about the enemy vessel that was supposedly disabled. The weapon descriptions were incredibly vague and it seemed that this thing possessed enough firepower to make mincemeat of her small task force. Seems stupid to have only sent three Star Destroyers, Aurora thought as she looked at her fleet makeup. Three ISD Mk IIIs, a Deflector-class, two interdictors, the C-902 and C-881 Skirmish Lines, 2 Flurry-class Carriers and four Belarus-class Cruisers. It seemed woefully over matched by the enemy vessel still. She wasn't sure if it was still a joke or not but she treated it as if the intel was real and valid.

Hours passed uneventfully in hyperspace before the small force of ships arrived at the given coordinates where they were to rendezvous with the mysterious person.

The two girls had fallen fast asleep due to the rigors of everything they had gone through over the past few hours. In a way, Tyr didn't blame them at all. If he had been them, he knew he would be completely tired out by now. He carefully carried them to the two spartan bunks in the gunship. He knew it would be no where as comfortable as a real bed. However, it was better than being on the hard floor.

Tyr walked back into the cockpit and shut the blast door that separated the cockpit from the rest of the ship. He sat down in the command chair, the only one too. Next to him the familiar hologram appeared. Helen looked quizzacly at the Eldorrin male...

"If I am not mistaken you actually are concerned for those two. I wouldn't worry about them if I were you. They will be better once they are with their own kind again. You on the other hand, I am worried about."

"Helen, so what, I do care what happens. They are innocent in all of this. The same applies to whoever the poor officer heading here with those ships. This whole galaxy is innocent and shouldn't have been dragged into this. I know what you are going to say, I agree. There isn't anything that I could have done to change it now. If I had only discovered that Klozak was really so hateful. I guess I learned one thing today, never ever trust a Myrderi again. Helen, I don't care what it takes none of them on the Providence can be allowed to live. No matter what!

You shouldn't be worried about me. I will be fine. I was alone all my life growing up in case you forgot. No friends, family or support. I am not stranger to being all alone..."

Helen's holographic hand touched Tyr's shoulder "Yet, I can tell from your body's reactions you hate the idea. You miss Rikku don't you. Don't worry, you will probably see her again someday"

"You can't say that, for all I know something will happen and she dies onboard ICE. They lack the medical expertise to treat us."

"She will be fine, trust me Tyr. She was always better than you at those survival missions at the Academy. Don't worry overmuch, as you have a task of your own."

"Your right...Helen can you open that first file the Sotaicho sent?"

"Sure thing..."

Tyr leaned back and started to read the information via the neural control interface of the command chair as the hours past...

It seemed only a few minutes later to Tyr, but the ship brought his attention back to reality. Moments later three ISD Mk.IIIs and their escorts appeared in front of him...

"So it begins, my task..."

Tyr flicked on the ship's engines and zipped toward the lead ISD while opening the comm system,

"This is Commander Tyr Anazazi, Eldorrin Empire, hope your trip was quick. Now, we need to get to work! Permission to dock?"

A minute of pause then Tyr received confirmation to land from a human male. Tyr made his approach and docked swiftly, efficiently and with no wasted movement.

Tyr stepped to the disembarking pad and after picking the two still sleeping girls and put them on repulsor stretchers. Right before he left, Helen wished him good luck. Then a split moment later he materialized with the two girls below the shuttle. There were two full squads of stormtroopers waiting an the commanding officer.

Tyr couldn't help but be amused by the looks on those whose faces he could see. Before they could utter a word, he touched and sent the two floating stretchers towards them. "These are two of your people I rescued. They will need some minor medical attention. Though, don't quote me as I am not a medical-doctor. My name is Commander Tyr Anazazi. I was ordered to make contact with you by my superiors as an officer of the Eldorrin Empire."

As Tyr looked quickly picked out the commanding officer and then looking straight at her, "I take it you are the Commanding-Officer? Zeltron, been a long time since I have seen one of you."

Aurora looked at the alien with mixed feelings. How did he materialize out of thin air like that? she wondered, glancing up at the shuttle before looking back at the alien who spoke a quick introduction. He was different from anything she had ever seen before and not all that unattractive, an air of mystique about him which was oddly inviting. Mentally scolding herself, she looked at the two stretchers and the people on them. Glancing back, she got one of the waiting medics to quickly take them away before turning her attention back to the man who had identified himself as Tyr.

"I am. Commander Sunfell," she introduced herself as she folded her arms across her chest, "And it's half-Zeltron actually." Of course it was impossible for people to tell the difference, the red skin and white hair and humanoid appearance didn't really distinguish her away from the other red or pink skinned aliens she was partially related to. If she had some fleshy brain tails like the Twi'leks, it would go a long way but then she'd be mistaken as one of those dim-witted aliens instead. It was hard to tell which was worse, dim-witted Twi'lek or dim-witted Zeltron. The bit about it having been a long time since he had seen someone like her didn't go unnoticed either but Zeltrons, for all their lust and desire for quenching the thirst for life were surprisingly adept at remaining hidden and relatively unknown through out the galaxy. Too busy with their fracking orgies on Zeltros...

She could sense that Tyr was growing impatient with something, probably the alleged ship her task force was deployed to deal with. "I'm here because my commander seems to buy what you're saying..." She glanced up at the shuttle again. As much as I hate to admit it, there might be some credence to those claims.

She didn't yet give the orders for the stormtroopers to back down, knowing full well that she should take zero chances right now. The stretchers were taken away to the medical facility and as they passed her, Aurora caught a glimpse of the people on them. They appeared human, the one girl with incredibly pale white skin and white hair stood out in her mind, probably because of the white hair. "I, however, remain unconvinced that there is a real, perceived threat and have no knowledge of this 'Eldorrin Empire' you talk about so you're going to have to start filling in some blanks before I commit my ships and the lives of everyone aboard to whatever stunt you're trying to pull here."

Re: Covenant Rising: Part 2 "The Curtain Opens" [Open:See no

Post by TyrAnazazi » 2011-06-14 04:51

[OOC: This is similar in concept to 18th Century fighting vessels prior to the 'Modern' battleship]

"Commander Sunfell, it is a pleasure to meet you. Now, as much as I want to quench that curiosity of yours, I need a better location. that is unless you want holograms displayed here. Actually, no matter either way..."

Tyr took a disk up from the ground where it had previously been unnoticed. He gently tossed it into the middle of the space, "Display Technical Presentation: EES Providence"

Immediately, a large hologram appeared from the repulsor-levitating disk. It showed a ship which would have reminded the Commander of a rebel-transport but much bigger and more alien. The bottom was covered in a sleek armored shell. Along the sides one could definitely make out the outlines of some form of weapon systems. At the back were some clearly defined engines.

"Congratulations, this is the Providence a new class of heavy cruiser. Sadly, we have run into a hijacking problem. And one that is really just the first move in a War for us. However, we can't deal with this as it is in your galaxy not ours. Now to explain the concept behind the ship.

Your Imperial ships tend to be dagger shaped with firepower focused forward and a lesser extent the sides. Perfect for your thrusting like fleet tactics. Not as elegantly effective once the fleets merge." The Hologram enlarged to go from side to side of the hangar bay...

"I honestly like this space much more now. It makes it easier to show the details and not distort the scale. As you can see there are two rows of 'gun-ports' lining the sides of the ship. Each of those holds a single 'heavy' STORM module. Which is a compact component 18 barrels aligned in a 3x6 matrix. The three larger protrusions with the three massive barrels are super-heavy modules. Open!" All the gun-ports simultaneously opened and the NIF personnel was staring down the holographic barrels.

"With gun-ports opened as you can probably tell, all the firepower is concentrated along the sides of the ship. With only lighter cannons on the dorsal and ventral surfaces. A single full-powered broadside from either side is....catastrophic. This ship is designed to destroy or cripple most any vessel in its tonnage and up to light battleships in broadside exchanges. The modules have a fire arc much more limited than a turret. It has a maximum of 45-degrees of tilt in all directions, from the dead-on position. Leaving..." A series of dark projections appeared showing the extent of the weapons coverage. The darkest-almost black were along the side while a barely tinged projections appeared from the dorsal and ventral surfaces.

"Very glaring openings to the top, bottom, front and rear views. As well as to the obliques; respectively top-right, top-left, bottom-left and bottom-right. The weakest points are to the rear, dorsal, ventral and obliques. The front is a weak point too, yet not as much as the others. The bow is heavily armored and thus more resistant to incoming fire. The points to attack are here.." A large red arrow appeared pointing at the engines.

"The Engines are the weakest and are not armored. Therefore, giving the most direct and easiest route of destruction. As the four 'sides' and the front are heavily armored. Do you understand?"

"Wait," Aurora began as she stared at the hologram as she processed everything Tyr had told her thus far. "You mean to tell me you're having us fight your war by attacking people who happened to hijacked your ship?" Everything she had seen and heard so far sounded so cleverly crafted and made up that it was almost impossible for it not to be a joke at this point. Listening to the description on what the enemy vessel was capable of, the Commander felt her jaw drop. This can't be possible.

As much as she liked to think this was something out of a sci-fi holo, she feared that, whatever this vessel was, it was deadly and it was real. Thankfully, it had a few weaknesses they could exploit. Not many but enough for her to feel confidant that this wouldn't be the suicide mission she had feared it was going to be.

"How disabled is this ship?" she asked, recalling that there was the mention it wasn't operating at full capacity. The answer wasn't promising but it was better than a fully operational ship but time was of the essence now. "Then I suppose we should stop wasting time." Turning on her heels, she motioned for him to follow, as well as motioning for the Stormtroopers to come as well. It was going to be a fairly crowded bridge but Aurora wasn't about to let this man simply move around as he pleased without an armed detail close by, especially with the technology he possessed.

Along the way, she gave the order for the force of ships to prepare for the jump to lightspeed and for all the pilots to suit up in preparation for launch. She had a plan in mind and started to outline it to Tyr. "I'll send our bombers and fighters to try and knock the engines out on that vessel, assuming they aren't still disabled when we arrive. Either way, without engines, it won't be moving very far, very fast and it will further cut its maneuverability, allowing us to maintain positional advantage and not received the brunt of its guns."

Aurora felt confidant in her plan, but she was sure the man would mention something that would threaten to dash her hopes of making this a smooth operation.

Tyr answered her initial question, "If things were so simplistic, then neither I nor my people would be asking your help. The people that are declaring war on us are the ones who hijacked that vessel. In addition, we have solid proof that you are next on their intergalatic domination plans. Both outcomes are unacceptable to us! Even if it meant fighting a losing war and falling into the muck from which we came. We have a responsibility that we were intrusted with, and will not fail!"

Tyr followed the Commander Sunfell up to the bridge. He couldn't help but feel the bridge was a bit crowded. However, he knew to even comment on it would not be a wise move...

"I take it that you are familiar with 'Roscoe's Gun' Commander? That is the formation for jump in. Have your escorts take the following positions. The ISDs take up the rear in close order wedge. Also, if your gunners have any form of 'boresight' I suggest they use it. As soon as we exit, I agree, launch all fighters and bombers. No spares! Target the following coordinates on the engines. The PDS can't fire in that arc and thus if it goes online, at any point in time, the pilots will have a better chance of survival. Other than that, escorts for fleet combat need to move to support the fighters. The three ISDs mover here" indicates the ventral surface. No matter what he does or what else happens, the ISDs must stay out of the arcs of the broadsides. Also, he must not be allowed to line up that bow with any of the ships. Even with thrusters only, it will not be pleasant! It is designed to be used as a ram. Good thinking Ma'am!"

Tyr thought for a moment, then very slowly said, "The only hitch might be if some of the manned fighters take off. They can make the bombers have a hard time. However, given the the numbers at most six-fighters shouldn't be a problem. If that does happen, the ratio of a minimum of 5-1 should be kept. That way you can keep the pilot on the defensive and he can't hinder the bombers."

TYr then stepped back and looked at the NIF Commander...

It rubbed Aurora the wrong way, being given advice from the alien on how to do her job. Why don't you just take command of the fleet then? she seethed to herself. Closing her eyes, she took in a deep breath and calmed herself. His advice was correct as she thought about it. The task force entered hyperspace and Aurora talked to the crew, getting the issues and order of attack established with the various officers. The trip was very short and when the force reverted to real space, Aurora finally came face to face with the supposed ship and now she was finally willing to acknowledge this wasn't some sort of joke. "Deploy fighters, gunboats and bombers and transmit the targeting coordinates to them," Aurora ordered as the ships in her fleet moved into position to perform the Roscoe's Gun maneuver. "Once we're in range, open fire."

The enemy ship didn't appear to react to the arrival of the overtly hostile vessels. That concerned Aurora as she remembered Admiral McFini once saying "it's always the quiet ones you have to worry about." It was a large ship and it did look a lot like an oversized rebel transport, it was almost comical that, for an alien species, they had to borrow the design of the vessel from the rebel alliance's chief transport vessel that helped them win the war effort against the old Empire. Well, if it helped them, than I guess I can't blame them for using that design.

The TIEs and gunboats tore away from the fleet, reaching towards the enemy vessel at top speed. The enemy vessel still wasn't reacting. Glancing over at Tyr, Aurora asked, "Is this standard protocol for your enemies, to continue drifting aimlessly even when under threat of attack?"

"No, it is not. Though not unexpected. Every system but life-support is down. That I made sure of. Or rather, I should say 'Helen' made sure of. She was the AI for that ship. Also, it will take them a bit to notice as the bridge is inside of the ship and surrounded by an armored sphere. Specifically, to prevent what you could call a 'quick kill' by destroying the bridge.

I know what you are thinking but this is nothing like those 'Rebel Transports'. Thrust per ton is much higher and I can guarantee you that unlike those ships this is anything but fragile. Looks are not everything Commander."

Suddenly she noticed Tyr focus on the ship ahead...

Tyr knew his vision was sharper than most of the people on the bridge. He could see the shapes of six phoenix class fighters heading towards the bombers and interceptors, as starlight briefly reflected off the black hulls. He also knew that the pilots would probably not notice them yet. "Control Officer, tell squadrons 1,2 and 3 to break off and head to vector 10-45." Seeing the confusion on the officer's face and his hesitation, "There are bandits intercepting at 10-degrees off point and 45-degrees up. Immediate engagement now! Those fighters get through, there will easily be a good squadron of your friends not coming back!"

Without taking his eyes away from the viewport, "Phoenix class superiority fighters. They possess a form of passive stealth. Visual ID, look for background stars disappearing mysteriously, that is the target. Once they are closer you can see them better. The surface is a nice glossy black finish.

The surfaces are designed to have most sensor scans 'roll' off. It is very ingenious way of avoiding detection. A better way of putting it would be mitigating. It is not as effective an active system like a stygium cloak. Yet also doesn't have the disadvantages of such. The perk of it is that it is often abnormally difficult to get a missile lock. Thus, you want to use weapons fire. If your missiles have any home-on-jam it won't work. As there is no active jamming for it to home in on. If you have an ability to get your fighters to laser-paint the target ship and have a missile home in down the laser-beam it will be most effective." Tyr chuckled slightly,"Forgive me, never thought I would be telling you people how to shoot Eldorrin fighters down or destroy one of our ships. Especially, if you had mentioned it to me a year ago."

Aurora frowned. This day just gets better and better. The enemy snubs would pose a problem but she did have the advantage of numbers. "Fighters, focus on the enemy interceptors. Protect the bombers at all costs." The NIF had begun the shift to the Mk III Interceptors which were vastly superior to the old Howlrunners or even the Mk II Interceptors and they packed enough heavy lasers to punch through the enemy starfighters without needing to rely on missiles.

Tiny flashes of light appeared in the distance as the tiny ships started to engage in their deadly dance. Turning her attention back to the large vessel, she asked aloud to weapons control, "How long until we're within striking distance?"

"Thirty seconds."

"Have all the guns focus their firepower on the specific points outlined already." Right now, Tyr's advice sounded just as good as anything she could come up with and Aurora would rather die taking someone else's advice that sounded good than die taking her own advice, having no clue what she was up against. Plus, if her empathy told her anything, Tyr had a vested interest in making this attack succeed and she wasn't sensing any hints that he was trying to set them up for failure. Still, I've been fooled before, she reminded herself coldly.

"Bombers are making their first attack run," the flight director announced, "Targeting the engines!"

"Vessels are in attack range." With the precision the Empire was known for, the two groups were both ready to attack at the same instant.

"Guns, open fire!" Aurora commanded.

Turbolasers from the various vessels opened up against the enemy ship, pounding away at its heavily armoured shell while the vessels remained out of the firing arcs of its strange weapons which remained silent. The bombers also had a measure of luck, their first volley smashing into the engine banks which were just as quiet. It felt too good to be true as Aurora looked for any sign that the enemy was about to spring a trap.

It came, though not exactly in the fashion she was expecting as the ship's remaining engines suddenly activated. The second wave of bombers were able to let loose yet another volley but had to pull back to avoid the sudden activation of the vessel's shield which caught several of the warheads.

"Ma'am, enemy has raised shields," the tactical officer announced from the crew pit beside her.

Aurora could see that as the second volley of turbolaser fire splashed against the blue glow of the field that helped protect the hull from further damage. She could see the damage left behind from the opening volley and it wasn't too bad, a lot of black scoring against the light hull of the vessel. But now she was forced into a slugfest against a well armoured and shielded vessel, the only saving grace was that she had positional advantage over the enemy ship. "What's the damage to its engines?"

"Estimated damage is only forty percent." Had the shields not been raised, the second volley might have been able to do more than that and the coming third wave would have nearly destroyed them entirely.

Dry orgies... Aurora closed her eyes at her mental curse, the Zeltronian blood in her always finding a way to manifest itself much to her impatience and frustration. They were such stupid curse words too. "What's its shield strength?"

Another volley of high powered energy smashed against the shields. The tactical officer bit his lower lip and said, "Estimated to be down to eighty-percent."

Biting back a groan, the Commander looked at Tyr and hissed, "I hope you can offer some useful advice right now..." She watched and saw the ship starting to turn itself about in an effort to try and bring its numerous guns to bear against her fleet. She wouldn't be able to maintain positional advantage for very long unless she moved but then the effective firepower she could bring to bear against the vessel would be severely diminished.

Meanwhile, the bombers and gunboats continued to make their passes on the engines, doing little more than helping weaken the shields, a couple space bombs going off in bright explosions against the rear of the vessel.

Tyr was a bit surprised by how quick the shields came back. However, it wasn't entirely unexpected. As the only damage was sabotage of the control systems not actual physical damage. Tyr turned to answer, when his wrist comm beeped...

A miniature hologram of Helen's avatar appeared, "I am surprised but this you got to hear. Its Wrex."

The holograms switched out and an alien with a large head with bony forehead plate and heavy armor appeared. "Glad to see you made it back to join the party. Right now I and about 25 of my group are left and give or take 50 Eldorrin. There are a good 125 hostiles though. Anything that I can do to help?"

Tyr knew the NIF officer was eying him, probably suspiciously. "Wrex, there is something. The shields just came back online. They broke the security grid. So, what I need you to do is go to Level Alpha-Zero-Section D3. The main shield generator's projector is located there. I need it destroyed. If you don't have enough firepower when you get there, blow the power conduits. Good luck!"

Turning to the officer, as he felt a few Stormies step closer behind him. "Wrex, is a Krogan Battlemaster. Their equivalent to Admiral. He is the reason I managed to get off, contact you and return your personnel. He chose to stay behind and cover for me. Before you think harshly of me, it was my responsibility to warn my command of the betrayal and the attack. Wrex, knows that he has no chance of leaving that ship alive if he does this. Though he also knows if he doesn't, we will lose a lot of good people. This is not his war anymore than it is yours. Maybe you understand..."

Tyr saw the words appear on the holographic display, 'Me and my men will do it! Guardians be with you and the NIF'

Tyr felt a small tear drip down his left cheek. Yet he didn't lose his composure for a moment. He could mourn his friends and kinsmen after this fight. "Gunners, fire maximum power both Turbos and Ions as well as any warheads you got at those coordinates. Instruct the captain to our port-side to fire with us for the next minute, then he must shif his fire to the center-of-gravity point, here. In order for it to work, shields must drop to around 50% capacity."

"Commander, I will explain what I am doing. The shields are point of impact. They are also designed to siphon towards areas where the shield is being weakened. Now, by focusing all our fire on one spot, we are drawing all the shield's power there. Which will leave the rest of the ship less well protected. In essence, not that different than any other shielding you would know. Normally this wouldn't be a weakness at all. However, I am counting on that the traitor captain will think our entire goal is to quickly destroy the ship via engineering. As a result, he will shift most all the shield strength to the rear deflectors. Meanwhile, he will continue to try and bring the ship in line so once he has weapons back, he can shoot.

It will take no more than a minute for the shields to transfer the power. Once done, the rest of the ship will only marginally be protected. At most by no more than 1-3% of the total strength. Enough for a well-timed salvo to blast through and destroy or at least damage the ship's distribution. By the way, we use the superconductive hulls of our ships to project the shields from. By damaging the hull you force the ship's systems to revert to the much less efficient or effective traditional projector. Which is what I asked Wrex to destroy. Shields will drop... And then it will be easy as a walk in the park to destroy."

Tyr held up his chrono and stood behind the sensor officer as he started to count down the time and the readings of the shields...

Tyr read off the percentages as time passed, unbearably slowly, "77--75--68---64--60--57--55--53--50--47! NOW!"

Tyr watched as the full firepower hit the barely shielded section of the shields. The bolts blew through practically instantly. The warheads hit a few moments later, tearing massive hulls in the armor. Things were starting to look much better as the Providence began to flounder...

"Tyr, the conduits are blown...those shields should be down now. However, I got some bad news, the secondary weapons systems are up. We can't get out, but we will cause as much damage as we can! Better not see you joining me for a long time! Wrex out!"

"Order the deflector to put up a wall in front of us!" Aurora ordered suddenly moments before the secondary weapon systems of the alien ship opened fire. The Deflector-class Star Destroyer used its powerful shield generators to throw up a large wall in front of the fleet of ships which absorbed the incoming shots, protecting the vessels effortlessly. "Thank the Stars for that vessel."

The NIF vessels continued to pound away on the enemy ship, its shields fast buckling under the intense firepower of the three ISDs guns and the supporting fire from the smaller vessels in the force. The alien ship wasn't about to go down lightly as it focused its fire against the vessel she was standing aboard, hoping to sever the head of the NIF force. The deflector-class compensated its shield, narrowing the wall slightly to increase the overall strength to absorb the incoming fire.

"We've punched through their shields," the weapons chief announced.

"Fire magpulse and ion torpedoes," Aurora commanded.

"Firing." Numerous capital grade warheads were fired as more turbolaser and ion barrages rained upon the armoured superstructure. When the warheads found their mark, many of the weapons were suddenly silenced and not a moment too soon as the deflector was down to a quarter shield strength.

"Already?" Aurora asked incredulously. They should have been able to last a little longer than that. It didn't matter a whole lot as gaping holes were now visible in the ship, atmosphere venting into space along with various pieces of debris and numerous showers of sparks from severed power couplings and whatever other alien technology was on board.

"Engines are down, they're immobile. Bombers are returning to their hangers, fighters are still engaged with the enemy snubs."

The battle was going well enough but she kept the guns firing. "I'm not going to take any chances. I want that thing reduced to scrap metal so fine the World Devastators won't be able to harvest any of it." She might have been passing up valuable opportunities to salvage technology, but Aurora would rather make sure nothing was left to catch her off guard later on than try to get greedy and salvage some sort of useful tech. Explosions started to erupt in various spots through the hull, whatever her shots were hitting were hitting something vulnerable and finally helping speed along the process of taking the thing down. A final volley of shots broke through the invisible wall and struck against the shields of her Star Destroyer, the shots managing to knock the shields down by a good fifteen percent. Before another wave could strike her vessel, a final explosion expanded through the inside of the ship and burst out of the many holes and the unarmoured seams along the side.

A celebratory cheer went up through the bridge as the enemy ship was no more. Aurora looked at Tyr and folded her arms across her chest. "So, you better start talking about who you are, where you're from and what this is all about..." The stormtroopers behind her raised their weapons as she added, "Because, as of right now, you can consider yourself a prisoner of the New Imperial Federation."

Tyr eyed the commander as the Providence was destroyed. In a way he was happy that they got the job done in time and before the medium or heavy weapons came online. He knew that the NIF had probably lost a few pilots but on the whole the loses had been miraculously low. Especially given the enemy and what the ship was designed to be able to do.

Tyr turned slowly and made sure to keep his hands where they could easily be seen. He didn't want some trigger-happy trooper to start shooting. "Who I am? Where I am from? What this is all about? I will answer your questions one at a time Commander. I will try to have it all make sense to you.

My name is Tyr Anazazi. Or at least that is what I have always been called. I hold the rank of Sub-Commander, field promoted to Commander. As a direct result of the events that lead up to this engagement. I was also designated as the Eldorrin Empire's 'First Contact' Officer to the NIF. As a result, it would be considered a grave mistake to incarcerate me in any way.

My species originated in a galaxy farthest away in this local group. We have traveled to several galaxies; eventually the one that we presently are in. We are curious by nature and as a result have studied this galaxy for a long time now. We mostly interacted with the Gree, Kwa and a few others, at that time. They have long since forgotten. Some of their technology is very similar to ours. At least in terms of the application and intended purpose. We guided them for a time than faded into the shadows. As the species that we call the First Ones did for us. As well as instructed us to do for any that followed. We have watched the many millennium pass by and the races rise and fall. It has been a point of great debate when you would be ready to interact with us as equals. We do have a directive or law that is the core of our philosophy about inter-species interaction. It is best summed up as 'You may not in any way shape or form influence the development of a society. It may only be contacted when it is ready and able to understand our nature' to summarize. Though some of our kind did intervene in your galaxy. Most recently it was during the New Order. Several of my kind rescued some force-sensitive children away from the Emperor.

They saw it as a crime against sentient life for those children and their families to be killed. So, they took action. Though not without reprimand and severe consequences. Palpatine became aware to an extent of our existence and presence at that time. However, it was not published anymore than his knowledge of another, albeit expansionist, extragalactic species.

Overall, we have made great pains that none of you would ever know that we walked here among you. Till that is you were ready to actually meet us. It was decided that you are ready to know and the situation at hand required it to be so. As a result, I was instructed to extend the Eldorrin Empire's warmest greetings. You have grown much as a galaxy!" Tyr smiled and bowed his head to the people on the bridge."We, the Eldorrin, salute you as equals! May you tread the stars and the void as giants! One day you shall stand with us in the presence of the First Ones, our mentors! For we believe, that you are the peoples we were destined to seek out. It has been a long and hard journey... That I am afraid is probably a discussion for another time."

Tyr stood straight and slowly lowered his salute formed by his left hand over his right fist positioned in front of his chest. Then he continued, "To answer your final question, the galaxy that we are presently inhabiting is mostly unexplored even by us. The location where we are located is in a very resource rich region that we found when we first arrived there. It was uninhabited when we arrived but didn't stay that way long. A species that had achieved space travel moved in and without provocation attacked. This species we know as the Myrderi, it means murderer in their language I believe. They were joined by the three other species within a few weeks. The coalition sought to wipe us out. However, our superior military machine crushed and dealt the death blow to each opponent. During the course of the war, we found some of the developing species enslaved, put in death camps and being systematically wiped out. As a result, we essentially wiped the three guilty species out. We then took their old territory and guarded the well being of those developing species. One of those races is the Krogan. They have long had a very precarious position of holding the peace between us and the Myrderi.

We figured that the Myrderi would sooner or later attempt to wipe us out and take our superior technology. Then use it for their own expansionist dreams. It has been no secret to us that want to be rid of us. Twelve hours ago the Myrderi Empire declared war on the Eldorrin Empire.

Simultaneously they took over the Providence. They had clearly planned this very well in advance. We had a colony ship disappear about a hundred years ago. All the adults were found eviscerated, the children were nowhere to be found. It had been unsolved till now. Based on conversation I have recorded and the facts, it was deduced that the children were brainwashed to serve the Myrderi's cause as expendable assets. These kids were breed or intermarried, we aren't sure exactly as to that, but we do know their children were responsible for the fall of and takeover of the EES Providence. The years of planning enabled them to have their puppets infiltrate the Eldorrin Anla'Shok, who operates mostly in our territory but also here. The Anla'Shok is most similar to your ISIS. Though not strictly of a military nature or intent. Most Anla'Shok ships are small and lightly armed like the shuttle you found me in. The base-ships are usually fully capable warships for security reasons.

As the Providence had been sent here to your galaxy, it was decided to ask you to deal with it. As in order to prevent the war from spilling over into your galaxy, the gate-network and long-range communications boosters have been taken out by our Navy. Both infrastructure are my government's property. As such, it was easy to do. This side's gate has been instructed to send its critical components to your government. So as to ensure the security of your galaxy. Our fleet has presently moved to engage the Myrderi's fleet and as such was not available to deal with the problem ourselves.

I must sincerely apologize for the appearance deception and for not trusting you sooner."

That was a lot to take in at once and for Aurora, who only had a vague idea of what when on in this galaxy, found it difficult to comprehend the thought that aliens from other galaxies were now entering this one. It shouldn't be all that hard... There's plenty of species here so why not other galaxies that are even more technologically advanced?

"What is this gate you're talking about?" she inquired. Holding up a hand, she suddenly cut him off and said, "On second thought, this is beyond my paygrade... I think I better take you to speak with the Grand Admiral, or, better yet the Supreme Commander or Emperor Kane even if you're here on behalf of another government and galaxy."

This was way too much for her to fathom right now and she didn't want to get involved any more than she already had. Destroying an alien ship on behest of a complete stranger. "Until then, I'll show you to a room and ask that you remain there until I've sorted out the arrangements as to who can speak with you... Guards, show Tyr the guest room."

As the stormtroopers escorted the man to a nice stateroom generally reserved for dignified guests, Aurora got on the comm to Grand Admiral McFini and gave him a full report of what transpired and what was said. He didn't appear to be terribly concerned with her actions and destroying an enemy vessel that might have contained useful technology for NIF scientists to orgasm over.

"No point over-extending our reach," McFini said on the matter with a carefree shrug. "Return to Bilbringi and I'll speak with Commander Anazazi." The stress on the word implied that he wasn't sure he entirely bought the story despite the best efforts of Aurora to convince him it was too elaborate to be made up. "I'll contact Supreme Commander Wesiri as well and see if he's interested in hearing this story." Leaning back in his chair, the Grand Admiral mulled for a moment. "I'm interested to hear more about these alleged gates. If what he has said so far is true, than I'm curious as to why I haven't been made aware of their existence if, as he says, the critical components have been sent to us."

McFini chalked it up on a need-to-know basis, but big stories like this usually had a way to trickle down, or up depending where it started. "Anyways, I look forward to meeting with this individual."

"You're not actually going to meet with that alien personally are you?" Charal asked, the steel edge in her voice a subtle hint that she was advising against it.

"Well, if he's an envoy, I don't see why not." McFini got to his feet and chuckled. If people in this galaxy weren't going to assassinate him, than maybe someone from some other galaxy who had no idea who he was, what he had done or what importance, if any, McFini had could finally do the seemingly impossible. "Besides, I doubt you'll let this Anazazi fellow get within ten feet of me." Though he couldn't see through the red helmet with the thin black vizor slit, he imagined what the guard was thinking. Probably questioning my sanity and silently contacting all the guards under her charge. He chuckled at his thought as he established a line to the Supreme Commander. "Commander, I have something you might want to hear..."

Tyr looked at the officer, "Mind if I grab some spare clothing. No offense, but this past few days have been very..interesting for me."

She nodded, "If you take several troopers and if your shuttle has a ramp."

Tyr walked with the two squads to the shuttle bay. He spoke into the vambrace-mounted comlink, "Helen, mind opening the auxiliary ramp? Thanks!"

After the ramp lowered Tyr walked on board. The stormtroopers followed Tyr on very cautiously. Tyr chuckled a little when one was a bit startled by a motionless GUNGNIR suit of armor. Without wasting time, he picked up his locker with his spare clothing. As well as a dozen of the datapads with some of the reading material the Head Commander (Sotaicho) had sent. Then he walked back out an once all the troopers were there had the ramp lifted...

As Tyr settled into the guest room, he couldn't help but notice the drabness of the space. In a way, it felt more like a prison than living quarters. Yet, it was part of their sense of style. So, it was no use focusing on it. Tyr washed up and changed into a more relaxing outfit.

There were loose fitting dark-blue trousers that were tied by a cord. His shirt was more like a jacket. It was had four ties. The sides of the shirt were brought across the body and tied in place, overlapping. The sleaves were were longish and had wide openings. Tyr had left his long hair hanging mostly loose. Though it was held in a semblance of a pony-tail by a clasp and pin that were beautifully embellished metal.

Tyr reclined onto the bed that was in the room and picked up the first of the holobooks. Many of the books that had been sent to him were still on his ship's data core. He had only a dozen with him. Overall he estimated there was probably about a decade worth of reading to do. He couldn't help but wonder the reason for all this information. As only a small portion was the consolidation of what they knew of this galaxy...

As he read he quickly got the general gist of the subject matter:
The two primary powers are still the NIF and NR. As the IR has merged with the NIF. Presently it would seem that the NIF and NR are engaged in another war. The reason is still not determined. The recently proclaimed Emperor of the NIF is the old Supreme Commander. Correct term of address is Emperor Kane or His Majesty. The present Supreme Commander is believed to be a member of their DJ order. However, the information is not entirely complete. It is believed to be a man named Jacen Wesiri. The present Grand Admiral is an eccentric and controversial man by the name of Tavish McFini. He is renowned for his unconventional tactics and methods of operation. Army is headed by Surface Marshall Eri Ambicon. It is known that she is a sniper by training. She presently holds several records in the Excelsior Galaxy for her shots. Lastly, only in the last couple years have we been able to determine that the present head of their intelligence department, ISIS, is a woman. Her name is Crystala Endivain. We possess no further information as to her.

Recommended Course of Action:
It is recommended that any First Contact be bluntly honest. Honesty seems to be a the coinage for them, as it is for us. In addition, any remarks hinting at our technological level must be kept to a minimum. If at all possible!
So, this is going to be interesting it seems...

Tyr was surprised by the relatively short trip back. He was summoned by a squad of stormtroopers shortly and followed them to the hangar and was joined by Commander Sunfell. Tyr nodded curtly to her and followed her onto the Lambda Class shuttle. Within a few minutes he was standing infront of some relatively large doors with 'Grand Admiral Tavish McFini' on it. So this is it!

The doors opened into a large, spacious office. Along either side of the path stood six elite guards, highly trained stormtroopers that were distinguished by a gray stripe on their shoulder pad. At the end of the path stood McFini, dressed in his white uniform and just in front of him to his right was a red robed royal guard, force pike straight up in the air. The escorts lead Tyr into the room but the elite guards moved in to block the path when he was about halfway into the room.

McFini frowned, knowing that some sort of silent command had been given to prevent the envoy from getting any closer. "My apologies," he began with a sideways glance at Charal, "But we've had a few problems with assassins lately and someone seemed to think I'm in danger of being targeted." He chuckled, the frown disappearing, replaced with a light-hearted smile. "Honestly, no idea who thought of that." Seeing Aurora roll her eyes, as no doubt all the stormtroopers were doing beneath their helmets, McFini cleared his throat. "Anyways, I'm Grand Admiral McFini, Commander of Third Fleet and Captain of the Intiimdator."

Already he could envision a few people commenting about how that ship ended up in the repair yards more times than the Federation had TIEs. "So, it's my understanding that you're from beyond the our humble little galaxy representing the... Eldorrin Empire? First, on behalf of the New Imperial Federation, let me just say welcome." Gesturing to a minibar set against the left wall, McFini asked, "Can I interest you in a drink?"

Tyr smiled, he couldn't help but start to like this guy. He was easy going and though definitely competent, knew how to make friends. Hopefully, he could do likewise...

"My humble thanks! Though to be honest, I am a soldier not a diplomat by training. So, as such, I tend to avoid complicated and mostly pointless ceremony. So if you do not have any objections, shall we not bother with it? Also, I perfectly understand your guards concern. I would do the same if I were them.

My name is Tyr Anazazi, Commander, Eldorrin Empire. I wouldn't mind a drink whatever you may have on hand would be fine. As I have the hunch that this is going to be a long conversation.

I take it you are interested in what I have to say. So, I shall outline some of what you want to know. We are presently located in a nearby galaxy. To travel here and back we use what we call a Quantum Gate Network. I have been authorized to hand over this side's gate to the NIF. As according to our definitions of sovereignty it falls under your jurisdiction. As such, if a problem were to arise with the NR concerning that. We would with your permission, defend the gate for you. That conveyed, I must be frank to tell you that we are presently engaged in a war at the moment. So, the amount or our full ability to upkeep that would be less than otherwise. Regardless, if asked we will do whatever we can. I hope that you understand our predicament.

In addition, it is well aware to us that your ICE task force is headed in our direction. If possible, inform them that we will in no way infringe or impede their efforts. Furthermore, if requested or if necessary for any reason they may take sanctuary within our borders. If they chose to do so at any time, they will be considered under our protection and defended by the Eldorrin Imperial Forces if necessary.

Tyr's tone softened as he continued, "Lastly, I have been authorized to render whatever assistance, that does not contradict our laws. As such, it would be my duty to inform you that I may assist your own technological endeavors. Yet I will not give you our military technologies in any way. This would not apply to medical technologies. As that will not result in an externally caused imbalance or contamination of your political development.

To be clear, it is the intent of the Eldorrin Empire and its people to establish friendly ties with the NIF. As a token of that, we sincerely apologize for the endangering of your ships and your crews in this recent incident. We accept full-responsibility for our mistake and error that lead to said incident. As well as for the your being coerced into the resulting war that we are now presently engaged. However, we have already taken measures to prevent such an occurrence from happening again."

Tyr in an undiplomatic manner, knelt, "I do have a request for you, Grand Admiral, as well as your government. Please do not prosecute or imprison any of our Anla'Shok personnel that were or are presently within your governmental organizations. As none of their actions or intent was or is malicious in any manner; but to watch and learn from you."
