Just a heads up for anyone who was planning on tackling Rend gu'Larso in the Open.

He's dead.

Anyone is welcome to try ;-)

Edit
Technically, 37 hasnt actually left yet. He's still in the penthouse.

I had the inclination to leave it rather open as to how he escaped. But if someone tries to engage him there, I'll roll with it. Though I may just bail on you quickly if you do something silly.

Up to you.

So ramming the Reaper into that penthouse would be something "silly"? :(

Oops, wrong account... uh.... absurd amounts of freak luck and an asteroid crashing into the penthouse would count as something "silly"?

Well, do whatever you want. I'll roll with whatever you throw at me, just dont God mode me into a corner. Otherwise I'll just God mode myself right out of it.

Thats what I mean by silly. I like a good story, and I'd be happy to keep this one going for a bit longer. But if you're going to involve yourself with 37, at least read his bio and figure out what you're dealing with.

The droid has a very, unnatural, perspective on the world around him, and doesnt really care too much for creatures he doesnt respect, and so far there's only 2, maybe 3, of those.

If you get him talking, he'll be rude, if not overtly aggressive. If you try to get in his way, he'll either escape and evade, or attack you. If you just start trying to talk to him, he might amuse himself by reciprocating, but dont expect too much.

At this point he's going to do one of two things, I hadn't really decided on it yet. He'll either save Ger'el Marchet (for a fee), or he'll start heading back to his ship, the Onikage.

Its not like this is going to be the only opportunity to catch 37 though, if thats what you really want to do. Being that he was Mai's droid, the Federation likely has a substantial bounty on him (He had access to all of the Shadow Hand's resources and intelligence, and likely kept records on a great many of the Federations secrets). But with that bounty comes the fact that he's quite dangerous.

So just keep that in mind.

Also, in regards to the Uttmost Suffer. The ship was designed by Mai, and approved by the board admins ages before the SM was started.

The "contamination" you're worried about is limited to that ship only, and it specifically states that there were no replacements or possible fixes for the ships shield system if it ever received damage.

Contamination comes from introducing non-canon technology that we would expect could be easily reverse engineered. In this case, the description specifically states that it cannot, as no one seems to even understand WHY the shields function at a higher capacity than they should.

True, that makes it sound like it would be a bit over powered. But its a reward for good roleplaying, nothing more. If it makes you feel any better, have someone drop a hydrospanner on a power relay and break it, problem solved, the "contaminated" portion no longer functions properly.

Double-post much? ;)

What is the bounty exactly? Anyone? I wouldn't mind a nice bonus to my pay on top of Blue Wave royalities, my salary, Third Fleet's budget, the siphoned funds from the other fleets... my barony :D

I dont think one was ever officially stated, no. I would imagine it would be substantial though, given what the droid knows. But then again, it doesnt really matter to me.

I have little interest in making 37 a target for players. I dont mind a chase here and there. But this wont be a galactic man-hunt sort of thing.

If thats what this turns into, then I'll end it.

Well, the controversial post is already gone, but I know the content.

1. There's not one thing in the Utmost Suffer which breaks what's already in canon. If you were thinking of things like the 'energy absorption' ability, standard deflector shields already have that capacity to a portion. The peculiar thing about photovoltaic cells adding effectively to its power generation is already present in common TIE Fighters, where the PV cells runs a fusion reaction. This was, by the way, a retcon of older sources that stated that TIE Fighters ran on solar panels (something which isn't possible without additional mechanisms). Furthermore, these are descriptors for its strong shield mechanism and not really functional game mechanics per se. Alienware aside, the ship's a one-of-a-kind... Dooku's solar sailer comes to mind. It certainly is nothing like the Covenant's returns-weapons-fire-to-a-high-degree shields.

I think Mai said it best:
I hope you guys understand the difference between an entire CONGLOMERATE EMPIRE of non-canon races with non-canon technology and non-canon force equivalent powers... and a single ship offered up as a reward for roleplaying that is specifically self contained and not replicable.
I knew of the thread premise before it was started, and as you can see, Mai had a part in its creation. When it comes to preserving the spirit of the NIF, she's even more conservative than I am... and I'm using that expression as a compliment here.

2. Declaring a bounty hunt on a player character is an iffy subject. While it's true that 37 is a rogue droid at this point, it's one thing to have the authorities out looking for him and another to declare a blood hunt in an ongoing SM with a different purpose. That's rather... pvpish.

Shame that TH isn't around. It's just the kind of thing he'd butt in on like an elephant in a porcelain shop, stomp all over, and before you know it, he's turned the whole thing into a shop selling porcelain puzzles.

3. I'm disturbed that this was done unilaterally, without any apparent discussion with, or consideration for, involved members.

Sabbac Open will remain open, and true to its original purpose. As for the rest of the fallout... why can't anything ever be easy? Oh right, those parts pass over real quick.

I'm a bit confused about what the impacts of killing gu'Larso have on the tournament. Does that mean it'll be stopped since there is now a dead body and a killer on the loose?

Also, despite my previous approval of the bounty hunt on thirty seven I have reconsidered. I'd prefer not to do anything near PvP (which this would definitely be PvP) and I don't think such a course of action would be... best. Just my opinion.

It's Jubar's SM, so I'm going to let him handle this one. Whether it'll end up with a fix, retcon, or adjustment, it's up to him to salvage.

I'll let Jubar speak for himself, but we did talk briefly about this last night. He doesn't seem to mind people going after Thirty Seven, but that's not with in the scope of the SM. If a robot hunt is to commence, it's best done in a lounge thread. But again, this is Jubar's SM so I say that if you're confused, get with him about it.
