THE MARKETPLACE
The Firro Exchange, a 20-km tall orbiting spacestation established by the NIF around the planet Firro in the Farfin sector, dedicated as a marketplace for goods from all over the galaxy, while making certain that NIF gets its legal share from every deal made. Thousands of ships, large and small alike, can be found bustling around here at any given moment, and NIF transports arrive here every standard half hour. The interior structure has walkways in circles within circles with shops in between them on horisontal deckplanes and turbolifts connecting the planes.

Unlike an Imperial warship, the Exchange is a comfortable, bright and lush place with many greens lining the walkways with enormous transparisteel windows along the outer hull displaying a magnificient view of Firro and the space around it. These plants are well cared for by ever-busy maintenance droids, because they are also part of the air purification system as well as providing fresh fruits and berries to the visitors, free of charge. Thousands of shops of every conceivable kind lines the walkways, ready to supply every need.

Just beacuse the Firro Exchange is a marketplace, does not mean it has no defences. A powerful deflector shield rated at 8680 SBD along with 40 turbolaser cannons, 20 concussion missile launchers, 40 single rapid-response laser cannons with the latest Sorosuub fast-tracking system and four squadrons of I-7 Howlrunners provide ample defence against any pirate attack. 10 regiments of security droids and 2 regiments of Stormtroopers regularly patrols the station to maintain order. The rumours of a black market existing on seedier lower levels is officially denied.

The Firro Exchange is divided into 4,000 equal parts known as "levels" even if there is empty space between them. (Ex. Hanger bays) Each "level" is 5m high and stretches as far out as it can until it hits the hull of the station.

The various areas of interest for visitors on the station are::

Hotels:: the Firro Exchange is the proud home of some of the best hotels in the galaxy, such as the Imperial Crown.

Casinos:: A good number of best casinos of the galaxy have placed a location on the Exchange and have opened their doors to the public.

Agra Gardens:: we boast several full floors composed entirely of a massive garden visited by thousands per year.

Food Courts:: There are levels and sections throughout the station containing restaurants from around the galaxy, whether your taste be for Corellian food or Gammorean food you will be well fed.

Hangars:: The main hanger is large enough to accommodate a large vessel, and there are smaller bays off of it for smaller ships. For a small fee you may rent a private hanger that will only be open to your ship while you stay.

Apartments for Freelancers:: anyone wanting lodging here, there is a place to do so. We have built-in quarters, and because of a massive number of those were built we are now able to rent a portion of them off to people.

Entertainment:: We are proud to announce that a full entertainment system has been installed and we now have a series of holo-theaters and performance stages. Also there is several sports arenas for those fans. A symphony Bith musical group has been hired to perform here for those in the higher levels.

Ultra-market:: Recently added is a section we call the "Ultra-market," you can buy anything there you could ever dream of, and lots more you never thought to dream of. From groceries to luxury goods this is your place.

While all those essential features still remain::

maintenance
engines
bridge
trash compactors
reactor
security
storage
crew quarters

The breakup of where you are allowed to go is determined by your security clearance. High ranking personnel are allowed anywhere, but are discouraged from the lower levels. The highest status attainable is to be able to access level 4,000. If you are caught on a level above your clearance you will have several levels taken from your clearance, and you will be evicted from the station for a week.

Status goes roughly as follows::

No Access, except to maintenance and crew:: Levels 1-500
Civilian Access:: Levels 501-1,000
Private Paid Access:: Levels 1,001-1,400
Residents (includes crew and people with rented apartments):: Levels 1,401-2,000
Main Hanger Complex (open to all):: Levels 2,001-2,070
Military Shops:: Levels 2,071-2,800
Private Suites:: Levels 2,801-3,000
Higher Ranking Military Personnel:: Levels 3,000-3,100
Guests of State:: Levels 3,101-3,400
Crew Areas (Bridge, computers...):: Levels 3,401-3,600
High Officials:: Levels 3,601-4,000

*Exception #1: If someone arrives in the main hanger and it is above where they should be they are given a time-sensitive pass to get to their section. Upon Return it will be renewed once, and they will need to get to the hanger in that time.

Points of Interest::

the Agra levels, levels:: 1,000, 1,400, 2,000, 2,800, 3,000, 3,100, 3,400, 4,000. The most spectacular of them all is the one on level 4,000, which has a magnetic field holding in atmosphere, as well as a series of high-powered heaters powered be extra energy from through-out the station. It is filled with many exotic plants and animals and has a breathtaking view of space, and Firro at times.

Out-Of-Character note: While the default setting is the Firro Exchange, you are not limited to the spacestation. You can start your thread at any place by naming the location in the first post. This is the place where your character can pick up all the odd items you want to get. Enjoy.

The Prices

Post by Dravius Stari » 2008-10-22 10:04

PRICE LIST
**** AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON PRICES ******

I have contacted Ace about prices of things and what follows is the bulk of the response he sent to me. I should think this would be valuable when buying anything. A big thanks Ace.

The response:

Like all real world commodities, it's difficult to set fixed price since it depends on the local market. Because of this it's also preciously difficult to find a suitable exchange rate between credits and any RW currency. Judging from the known examples (and the existance of a 0.1 decicred coin which is considered small change), I would put a credit between 1 to 10 $USD, with basic commodities closer to the lower value and rarer ones closer to the upper value. Generally speaking a credit seems to be worth more than a dollar. Drinks seem to be worth a few credits at most and decicreds probably have a use here, while starfighters don't seem comparable to airfighters; an F-16 goes for about 15-19 mil dollars, while a new starfighter comes at 60-200,000 credits. We can probably give a nod to droid production for bringing down the price tag of advanced mass-produced stuff. Also, there's no noticeable inflation which is a considerable difference.

Landspeeders seem comparable to cars in value and private spaceships equivalent to boats and ships. Droids seem to be more expensive than landspeeders although the price depends greatly on advanced class, age, model, popularity and such

Taxes

Post by Dravius Stari » 2008-10-22 10:05

By the order of the mines and metal production facilities of the galaxy there is now a 13.97% tax on all amounts of metal exceeding 50 tons being sold.

All goods that have been brought from NR or IR space are now subject to a trade fee when they are imported to NIF spaceports and are being taxed by the rate of 8.42% of the price-per-ton of the cargo.

Update 2: As of war and increased needs for the NIF war effort a 5% sales tax has been enacted on all goods being transferred through NIF ports and borders. - I have stuck this back on. If there is a problem, let me know.
