General Purpose Warhead Launcher

The standard Imperial warhead launcher differs from most New Republic missile launchers in that it can use a wide array of different warheads, hence the name. There is a drawback with this construction in that it cannot load as many warheads as a specialized launcher, made for only one class of missiles, but the sheer variety available usually makes it worth it in the eyes of Imperial pilots. The GPWL has two tubes and can fire two warheads simultanously.

[Extrapolated Canon] The launcher automatically configures to fit different sizes of warheads when loaded. The launcher also has a magnetic coil accelerator which gives the warhead an initial boost of speed (which saves missile fuel and improves the range. Also incredibly useful when you fire warheads without propellants, like proton bombs). The launcher can only load warheads of a single type at a time, however ingenious field modifications by Imperial technicians can load different warheads as long as they have the same size.

How many warheads the GPWL magazine can carry depends on the size of the warheads. Please note that while capital ships carries much larger warheads, they generally also have much larger magazines and do not necessarily follow these rules:

Pod Weapons (warheads carried in a large pod, usually underneath a starfighter), are Class Five or larger. They do not fit in the GPWL.
