Integrated Cloaking System (ICS)

The ICS is a Hibridium Vorknkx-type cloaking device coupled with a Fire Control intergrated Computer Combat Predictor system and additional power systems.

Hibridium Cloaking Device

The HCD is a near perfect active stealth system, impervious to Gravimetric Sensors, Electro-Photo Receptors, Dedicated Energy Receptors, Full Spectrum Transceivers, and just about any other sensor system out there. The only system known to be able to detect through the HCD is the Crystal Gravitational Trap.

The HCD, for all its effectiveness, have several glaring weaknesses. One is that it consumes large amounts of power when activated. It is also a delicate system which require constant and perfect recalibration in order to work properly. It is also prone to easy breakdown. Additionally, a ship equipped with an active HCD can still be detected as soon as it opens fire, and what's worse is that the cloak is double-blind, rendering a starship with an activated HCD completely blind to its surroundings. No communication with the outside world is possible.

Prototype versions of the HCD were unstable and could not be activated and used in conjunction with a hyperdrive jump, but this was later rectified. The prototypes also had problems with using shields and weapons together with the cloak on, but this was mainly a power suppy problem which was solved by adding power generators to the V-38 fighters. Capital ships, while having much greater power demands, have no shortage of power supply. While the HCD is used as standard on TIE V-38 Assault Fighters, but can cloak objects of any size, given sufficient energy supply. Cloaking devices must be fine-tuned by an expert to the individual ship it is fitted to, and readjusted with regular intervals to work optimally.

Computer Combat Predictor

The CCP system was developed by Imperial engineers in the decade after the death of Admiral Thrawn. It was designed to predict attacks of incoming starfighters, interfacing with the weapons systems to fire automatically in a set pattern. This was particularly useful when combined with an active stealth system such as the Hibridium Cloaking Device, but the CCP is rather lacking in accuracy. The variables of tracking invisible targets quickly reaches infinity, but the CCP gives at least some chance to hit targets in the very beginning of a battle while firing blindly. Striking capital ships is obviously easier due to their larger size and lower manoeuvrability, but tracking difficulty increases rapidly with distance to the target, which is generally higher for capital warship battles. The CCP remains effective a few minutes at most, and seldom more than seconds against starfighters. However, de-cloaking to acquire correct data will reset the system.

The NIF has improved the system to allow it to be used against other, relatively stationary objects such as ground targets, stations and capital ships. Additionally, the system can be placed in an advisory role rather than firing automatically to take advantage of a gunner's "gut instincts". The improved CCP was designed for use in the V-38 Assault Starfighter.
