Death Stars

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Death Star Mk I

The Death Star is so large that it is usually not counted as a starship, although it fits the basic classification of one. Four ships of this class was under construction, but only one was completed and lost shortly after its maiden voyage in the last Battle of Yavin. Two ended up as colony space stations off the orbit of Coruscant, little is known for certain about the fourth except that it was destroyed. The Mk I had several predecessors, and one successor - the uncompleted Death Star Mk II. Emperor Palpatine was planning to have one Death Star for each regional command. In addition, several other ships and stations of dissimilar design sports strategic weapons.

The Battle of Yavin revealed that the Death Star had several minor flaws. The defence shield was designed against a massive capital ship assault and not tight enough to prevent entry by rebel snubfighters, which caused minor surface damage upon the hull. In addition, there was a small surface reactor shaft heat vent. While protected by numerous weapon emplacements and a ray shield, a rebel fighter succeded in launching a proton torpedo past the defences which made the main reactor go critical, self-destructing the station. The Death Star's turbolasers were also designed for defence against a massive capital ship assault, and it had no laser weaponry which could effectively track and destroy the rebel fighters once they had penetrated the outer shield.

Even in the light of the design flaws, the Death Star would have remained nearly unharmed and completed its mission had its commander only bothered to launch the many thousands of TIE fighters in defence against the tiny rebel assault. However, as they were only 30 craft, Grand Moff Tarkin felt that they posed no significant threat, although they did succeed in destroying several turbolaser emplacements and a deflector shield tower before the main attack came.

As a starship, the Death Star has enough firepower to destroy entire enemy fleets with contemptous ease and blast any habitable planet regardless of defences into dust and rocks. It also has the support craft and troops to launch a msasive ground attack, and the detention facilities to lock up what's left for questioning. It was first concieved of as the Separatist's "Ultimate Weapon", which it is since there can be no defence against it. The first Death Star's superlaser has by some sources been claimed unable to fire at targets as small as capital ships. Information regarding this will remain ambiguous. (*Ref: some statistics scaled up to better conform with proper canon, aka the movie).
It is often believed that the Death Star Mk I only had the capacity to target planets, due to the infamous destruction of Alderaan. Relatively unknown is the fact that the DS1 destroyed the Lucrehulk-class Battleship Fortressa at 4% nominal power in a battle in the Horus system.

Advanced Mother Devastator Mk II

This version of the massive Mother World Devastator factory ship was created with the latest NIF technology in order to lead the New Imperial Federation Intergalactic Campaign Expedition. The massive factory ship is as self-sufficient as any ship could be, capable of creating any ship or structure known to man, given time and materials. The result is a ship that would win no beauty prizes, but one with monstrous capabiltiy and the best chance to get any job done. ICE is unique in that it is the first ship built with the Stardust Overdrive, advanced mass drivers and interceptor tractor beams, representing the foremost of advanced ship research in the galaxy at the time.

Like other World Devastators, it is capable of self-upgrading and is essentially a droid of titanic stature. The backdoor security codes used by Palpatine is not in use by the NIF, the on-board Helios class AI is under crew surveillance, and the unfortunate factory slaves used on the original design were replaced by NIF technicians. The AI JF7-TQT-49F-N02-IJ9-AWH was nicknamed 'Jack Frost' which is a mythological creature associated with ice and cold.

Mother Devastator

The Mother World Devastator is a massive factory ship, as large as any battleship in service. Functionally they are identical to World Devastators. Intel suspects that the Reborn Emperor Palpatine used them to construct the smaller world devastators as well as the Emperor's secret shipyards and construction facilities that resulted in several super weapons and command ships along with many smaller vessels. They did not participate in the assault on Dac along with its children and they might still be hiding somewhere in one of the Emperor's many secret locations. Certain Imperial documents found in the wake of the Byss catastrophy suggests the existence of larger Imperial ships and superweapons; it is possible that this is a reference to the Mother World Devastators. (Ref: All data concerning them are speculations, save look).

Like other World Devastators, it is capable of self-upgrading and is essentially a droid of titanic stature.

Nemesis-class Star Dreadnaught

The Nemesis-class is a further development of the Executor-class Star Dreadnaughts, drawing upon the NIF's experience with the earlier class and implementing the latest technologies. It employs heavier weaponry, including a forward potent proton beam cannon, and utilizes sophisticated medium and light weaponry. Modern power systems and the on-board AI makes room for a larger fighter and troop compartment, but the pre-fabricated bases are left to dedcated troop ships. It takes a good commander to make full use of the Nemesis-class' many special systems, but it can be well worth the extra cost.

Eclipse-class Super Star Dreadnaught

The Eclipse-class command ship is the largest, most powerful warship ever built. Construction of it started during the height of the Civil War, but with the demise of the Emperor and the subsequent anarchy, the completion of the ship did not come until the Reborn Emperor took his seat upon Byss six years later. It was meant to command fleets of Sovereign-class warships, but this never came to be. The original, prototype Eclipse was 17,500 m long but the finished Eclipse II and all later warships in this class are 16,000 m long. The main weaponry of the ship is a superlaser that can penetrate any defensive shield and turn the planet below to cinder in a single full powered shot, and devastate any warship at nominal charge once per minute 11 times per day, at twice the range of the most powerful turbolasers. The main conventional weaponry of the vessel consists of laser cannons with firepower comparable to heavy turbolasers, as well as heavy turbolaser batteries with superior accuracy. In addition to this formidable arsenal, the ship has a reinforced structure and can simply ram enemy ships at will. Finally, it sports gravity well generators and can prevent hyperspatial travel on its own.

The ship has extensive repair and maintenance facilities and have been noted as completely self-sufficient. It could probably well serve as a fleet utility and logistics platform on top of its other functions. While the carrier space has been distributed into several smaller hangars, one could fit a Victory-class Star Destroyer. It is fully equipped with ECM and ECCM as well as long-range communication suites, and it has enough power to cause massive jamming effects. Most enemies simply flee in the face of the dreaded ship rather than stay to fight. Ref note: Stats revised to reflect SW:ITW.

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Sovereign-class Super Star Dreadnaught

The Sovereign-class Super Star Dreadnaught was designed as a scaled down version of the massive Eclipse Star Dreadnaught. Like it's predecessor, it can ram smaller ships with it's reinforced prow. While the Reborn Emperor wanted to create a fleet of these vessels, only four were built and they were all destroyed by the New Republic within a year. The superlaser on this ship is operated by 1,000 gunners and it can breach planetary shields and turn planets into cinder in a single full power shot. It can fire once per minute at nominal charge up to eight times which is still enough to devastate any single starship, and at full power once per day. In addition to its incredible firepower, it also has a maximum range twice that of heavy turbolasers. The ship also carries 11% improved conventional firepower over the Executor-class, with as much as 36% improved fire control. However, the design has a weaker sensor array, only 2/3rds as strong as the one found on the Executor-class. The shield control suffer from the same weakness. The main batteries on the Sovereign are worthy to comment since they are not turbolasers, but heavy lasers. Normally, laser cannons are much weaker than turbolasers and has a range of only 25 space units, but the heavy lasers on the Sovereign-class matches the range and power of heavy turbolaser batteries, with much improved cohesion. Ref note: All statistics are upgraded to reflect the new ITW data.

Mandator Mk II-class Star Dreadnaught

The Mandator was a short-range battleship developed by Kuat Drive Yards simply to protect the shipyards of this immensely wealthy and influential system. They were typically deployed together with Procurator-class Battlecruisers, but they never really saw combat, since no one would be foolish or strong enough to challenge Kuat, except for the Empire, which never had a need to do so. The Mandator may be the first warship with the later famous protruding ventral reactor bulb. It was noted to be equal in combat to 1000 CIS Recusant-class Light Destroyers. The Mandator was one of the largest battleships ever, only yielding its foremost position to the advent of the Executor-class and later heavy battleships. No Mandator has ever been noted to serve outside of Kuat, but an improved Mandator II with longer range was devloped for the Republic by the time of the Battle of Coruscant. These ships would later serve in the Imperial Navy. Compared to the Executor, the Mandator has about 60% of its power.

Armada-class Battleship

The Armada-class Battleship was built after the Executor-class, but was actually primarily designed before the more famous ship. In fact, the Armada-class was one of the designs considered as the main command ship in the Imperial Navy. The Emperor and Darth Vader considered the Armada-class not imposing enough, and the beautiful Executor-class was designed to fill the role instead.

The Armada draws more back to older design wisdom from the Clone Wars. One can easily see the basic design lineage going back to the Acclamator-class and related later ships. While not as large as the superheavy battleships like the Executor, it has superior tonnage compared to almost all other vessels. It is a heavily armed and armoured ship which can easily obliterate cruisers without taking damage. Thousands of heavy turbolasers line the trenches, and it features a single large hangar bay at point of the ship, four times that of an Imperator. It is a ship of few finesses, relying on brute power to overcome obstacles.

The most famous Armada-class ship suffered heavy damage due to a chain reaction in a lightly armoured transportation cage which was fitted on it for the special mission of escorting a unique life form found on a Rim World, and the ship had to be sent to deepdock for extensive repairs. This was an unusually unfortunate event that culminated from a particularly insidous rebel plan, but even suffering from the fluke event, the ship remained largely combat effective, if rendered vulnerable until it was later repaired. Admiral Giel was demoted to the rank of Lieutenant as a direct result of this event. All statistics are estimated.

Torpedo Sphere

The Torpedo Sphere is a dedicated siege platform, successor to earlier torpedo platforms, large warships specializing in missile bombardment. The design also has a clear, if indirect, lineage to the Death Stars. It enters orbit around the world and uses its thousands of high-resolution DER sensors (Dedicated Energy Receptors) to analyse planetary shield emissions to find temporary power fluctuations in the shield. These weak points rarely exceed a 20% power drop and a 6 metre square for a few microseconds. It is a very complicated task to locate the shield generators only by shield emissions, and once a hole is found, the hundreds of torpedo gunners fires the launchers to create a temporary breach. Failure means that the operation must be started all over again. After a successful temporary shield drop, the turbolasers fire to destroy the shield generator and the planet is left vulnerable. If there is even a slight mistake in timing, the entire procedure must be repeated from the beginning. While plans were made to assign one Sphere to each sector group (over a thousand), this role was overtaken by the Death Stars (of which only one reached active service) and only six were in service at the height of the New Order, each part of a supporting bombard fleet of 100 warships. Aside from breaking shields, the Sphere can perform a Base Delta Zero operation, permanently terminating a planet. Only one Sphere carried a prototype grav-shock device made to cause earthquakes and tsunamis, but it could be fitted to other Spheres. This prototype may have been a special "super" torpedo sphere, similar to the normal Sphere, but vastly larger and more massive, approximately over 120 km in diameter. An obvious forerunner to the Death Star. The "super" Sphere was lost due to rebel sabotage when it was rammed by a container vessel at Fangol.

While being a siege platform, the Sphere - actually an ovoid - is not without combat capabilities. Grand Admiral Pitta used a Torpedo Sphere to defend the planet Talus from Grand Admiral Grunger's entire fleet of 30 Star Destroyers, 60 Strike Cruises and 100 Carracks, until Grunger rammed the ESD Aggressor into Pitta's sphere, killing them both. While the TS can spit out an impressive 500 proton torpedoes per salvo (although normally 20 tubes are reserves), these weapons are optimized against planetary shields and experiences a 56% efficiency drop when used against starships. The optional gravshock device can localize a nearby planet's gravitational field, causing artificial earthquakes and other seismic disasters. While incredibly effective, these devices are also incredibly expensive to power. The localization of the planet's gravity also causes nearby starships, including the torpedo sphere, to experience rapid and random orbital shifts, making the weapon dangerous to use. The main weakness of the design is a complete lack of point defences and starfighter support, which is why each Sphere had a support fleet.

Vengeance-class Star Battlecruiser Mk-II

The Vengeance Mk-II was created to address the recently discovered failure to utilize wasted space within the vessel. The new version uses scaled down Distruption Beams to divert power from other vessels to this one to address the short comings of power due to the enchancements added. The ship runs at 75% combat efficeincy, until the Disruption Beam system is engaged and syphons power from other ships to compensate. An extra bank of capcitors about equivalent to a medium-heavy cruiser's capacity has been added to store the influx of power to be utilized. The MRP is installed to improve the level of support the vessel can offer by fabricating supplies and parts to itself and escorts. In an effort to further its more supported role it has inherited, engine baffling has been added to help it when it is cloaked sneak closer to enemy worlds to help weaken planetary shields by diverting away power from them to make weak spots on planetary shields more pronounced or frequent. While cloaked and utilizing the Disruption Beam, it cannot sustain this for very long as the amount of power drawn in cloaked is not burned off faster than the systems actively used are capable of using.

Vengeance-class Star Battlecruiser

The Vengeance-class is essentially a budget version of the earlier and more prestigious Executor-class, though still a powerful ship in its own right. It is a much thinner, spike-shaped ship that retains many of the characteristics of its precursor, in a slimmed down form. One exception is that the ship has a comparatively oversized engine section with more maneuvering thrusters. This combined with the lower mass makes the ship relatively fast and agile for its impressive size. Ref note: Stats revised to reflect SW:ITW

Arc Hammer-class Star Battlecruiser

The Arc Hammer-class is a slight anomaly from regular battlecruisers in that it is also a factory ship. It is capable of manufacturing missiles and equipment on its own which makes the ship completely self-sustainable. This is particularly useful for feeding the ship's many missile launchers and continously supply its relatively large ground assault compliment. It is also slightly anomalous in that it puts an emphasis on resilience and firepower rather than speed and shielding. Ref note: Stats revised to reflect SW:ITW. Class name provincially named after the only known example. Size derived from scaling.

World Devastator

Silencer-class Assault Ships are named after Silencer-1, but they are better known as World Devastators, Planet Smashers, or World Crushers. The World Devastator is a second generation superweapon that consumes anything in its path. The surface of an entire planet can be consumed in the matter of months by these self-sufficient, evolving machines of pure destruction. Incredibly powerful tractor beams disintergrates matter and draws it into huge molecular furnaces through the vessel's maw. In these furnaces, powered by engineered black holes, matter is broken down into its base elements and fed to the World Devastator's vast internal droid-controlled production facilities. Useless matter is converted to energy, while valuable materials are used to create hordes of TIE droid fighters in a matter of a few minutes, and even build Star Destroyers and other World Devastators if the parent Devastator is large enough. In addition to ripping apart worlds, a World Devastator's internal robotic manufacturing plant also improves and expand upon the World Devastator itself. This leads to the fact that no Devastator is static, it grows and becomes more powerful as they consume starships and planetary matter. They are normally grown in safety until they reach maturity. Given enough time, it could potentially become large enough to dwarf any starship. World Devastators have complex computer and guidance systems with a unique identity that creates these customized additions and alterations based on its own decisions. Devastators are incredibly powerful vessels that can rip apart any opponent, nearly invulnerable even to heavy turbolaser fire. Originally, they were regulated by means of a hyperspace-transmitted Master Control Signal. This potential weakness has been since removed by the NIF, and override over the ship's artificial intelligence is instead in the hands of the crew via advanced security measures. Another difference is that the slow class 6 hyperdrive has been replaced by a class 2 military standard drive, since the NIF intends to use these vessels in space combat rather than planetary assault. Finally, the slaves aboard have been replaced by loyal technicians.

Shockwave-class Battlecruiser

The most famous Shockwave-class Battlecruiser was the flagship of the Warlord Harrsk, which was lost in battle against his rival Teradoc's Victory-class wave attacks. The ship also served in the Reborn Emperor's Deep Core Fleet. The Shockwave makes a sidestep from traditional KDY designs, having something of a hunchback profile. It is powerful enough to wipe out VSDs in a single volley, and like most battlecruisers it features an oversized engine section, providing ample thrust and speed. All statistics are estimated.

Praetor-class Battlecruiser

A derelict vessel of the class was used by the infamour pirate, Crimson Jack. Rebels used a scavenged reactor from a Praetor-class to power Echo Base's theatre shield on Hoth. Baron General Ulric Tagge used a similar ship which may have been a modifed Praetor. It is a ship with sleek armour plates and a reactor large enough to bulge on both sides, giving it high power output for its size. It also posesses no less than four main sensor domes, twice the capacity of ISDs. Finally it has five ion engines, giving it good speed for a ship this size (Crimson Jack's ship apparently had only four working engines). All statistics are estimated. Tyrant-class Missile Cruiser

The Tyrant-class Missile Cruiser has never been used in large quantities even during the height of the Galactic Empire. The last of these imposing vessels were lost at the Byss Catastrophe. The remaining factions in the Galaxy has not had the resources to spend on these expensive vessels, preferring more standard multirole cruisers such as the Imperator. The New Republic has never shown an interest in the Tyrant.

The Tyrant carries 16 heavy missile tubes which can cause massive damage to slower capital ships if hit. This offsets the slightly meager turbolaser component of the ship, making it an effective space battle combatant when used against heavy fleet formations. All statisics are estimated.

Mobile Base

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Domus-class Base Ship

The Domus-class Multi-purpose Mobile Base Ship is split up into three sections, the Hangar, Foundry, and Engines. The Hangar section contains most of the storage space for the ground vehicles, fighters, and supplies. The Foundry section contains the molecular furnace, construction shop, and hydroponic farms. The Engine section houses the engines and other large machinery.

The Domus has a large array of tractor beams at the bottom of the spherical center that act similar to the array found on World Devastators. They can pull up and rip apart any material for use in the large molecular furnace. The material is than re-forged and use to construct anything up to about corvette size. To help ease the process and to for the Domus to consume materials while in orbit over a friendly that we wouldn’t normally consume, 6 Claw-class Hyperspace Tugs are used to bring asteroids and other space debris to the array of an orbiting Domus. This also helps it consume more material faster since it doesn’t need to go out searching for new material, it can just send out the Claws and wait in orbit as they collect the needed materials.

The Domus, while large and bulky, can land on any planet using its large array of repulsors placed around the underside of the ship and eight large landing supports that protrude from the bottom of the ship when it lands and evenly distribute the weight of the ship. The repulsors then deactivate and it rests on the terrain. It can then open up two large bay doors to unload its large assortment of troops and vehicles, instead of relying on dropships. Although it does have a few ships for strategic deployments.

At the very top of the Foundry is a dual purpose observation deck and C4I center. This allows for the best battle observation and tactical position within the battle umbrella. Commanders can get the most up to date battle information and issue to orders to anyone under their command.

Also, within the Hangar section of the ship are 2 large “training grounds” that allow the soldiers stationed aboard to keep their fighting prowess in top form. They are approximately 100 meters by 100 meters, and can support a variety of scenarios. There are also 4 smaller “battlegrounds” that enable two squads to engage in intense combat.

Allegiance Mk III-class Star Destroyer

The Allegiance Mk-III was created to test out the new Metal Crystal Phase Shifters, recovered from the Gorgon's databanks. The testing of them on a smaller scale showed promise, so moving them to a larger platform should show promise as well. This helped the NIF leap out ahead against the New Republic's work in progress of their new ship reformation they had begun working on. While ironic that a program that was thought to have been aborted was implemented, it proved to be a good choice. As of creation and after a few uses the New Republic still has been unable to remodulate their shields to stop this devestating attack from eating their hulls.

Exuberant-class Star Destroyer

The Exuberant could be called the Allegiance Mk II, had it not been for its extensive modernization and inclusion of radically new technologies. The Allegiance was a destroyer-destroyer, while the Exuberant improves the original's versatility along with nearly ever other aspect. The main weapons batteries has a new layout, and midrange weaponry features a new 360 degree ball turret design which gives it unparallel firing angles. It can focus 90% of its firepower forward, 75% rearward or broadsides, 50% topside and 30% keelside. Overall it uses heavier turrets than previous designs, yet with much improved coverage, totalling 11% more firepower over the Allegiance-class. It replaces 20 missile launchers with 16 advanced octet launcers, which actually increases the number of effective launchers by 108 which in total adds as much firepower to the ship as its main batteries. The ion cannons, four dual barrels in six turrets, are located in the forward half of the side trenches. They cover 150 degrees fore and aftward on each side, 90 degrees top and keelside.

Due to a similar superstructure, Allegiance-class ships can be converted to Exuberant-class, although with significant cost involved. The Exuberant can be expected to take on a squadron of heavy cruisers and win. Compared to the Allegiance-class, it has 6% more energy weapons firepower, more than six times as many missiles, greater versatility, 10% more armour and 11% stronger shields, this without counting the Stardust Overdrive system. Overall, it is a sophisticated ship for a new age.

The Titan was almost wiped out after Byss' destruction, along with the majority of larger warships in the galaxy. It is in the upper spectrum of Imperial heavy cruisers, with a secondary thruster bank to provide improved acceleration. Otherwise, this ship is essentially an upscaled Imperator, but more heavily armoured for its size. All statistics are estimated. No official name exists.

Devastator-class Star Destroyer

The Devastator was a powerful Star Destroyer used by the dreaded Darth Vader during the era of the Galactic Civil War. He later named his Imperator-class the same name. This class of ship is much larger than the typical ISD, with very sizeable engine section, giving this large cruiser impressive speed combined with excellent firepower, coupled with large hangar capacity and extremely heavy armour. It also features a highly sensitive sensor suite, which combined with its high speed is why this ship is sometimes used for anti-pirate duties. All statistics are estimated.

Warhammer-class Star Destroyer

The Warhammer-class Star Destroyer is the culmination of New Imperial Federation technology in a single capital ship. This ship is heavily armed at the expense of the size of its fighter bays. The Warhammer is an extremely durable ship, it is powered by several reactors, to ensure if one or more are damaged the others are capable to power the ship, although far less efficiently. It has a back-up shield generator in a different section of the ship just in case the primary generator is either damaged or sabotaged, therefore making the ship very difficult to destroy. It is a primarily ship-to-ship vessel. The Warhammer is also the first design to house the Helios Central Artificial Intelligence System. The Helios will greatly increase the effectiveness of the ship itself and its crew.

Class II Star Destroyer

The Class II Cruiser is a design in the lineage of the Acclamator-class Miltitary Transport, which also the Venator-class carrier is. The Class II is however more geared towards a space combat function than either of those ships, reflecting the development towards the versatile Imperator-class lineage. The Class II maintains four large hangars, though not with such a strongly dedicated carrier function as found on the Venator, while it keeps the engine and bridge design of the Acclamator. One can also find the typical reactor bulge of the Imperator line on this ship. The Class II was probably considered an intermediate design along with the Class I and Class 1000 vessels. They were in service during the early Imperial Era, but never became very common due to the advent of the Imperator-class, which moved the hangar bays to the ventral side to further minimize this structural potential weakness, together with improved firepower and a lower emphasize on fighters. Unlike the Acclamator and Venator, the Class II is a non-atmospheric ship, also noting a change from large landing capital ships to an increased use of shuttlecraft. All statistics are estimated. This ship is not 750 m.

Tector-class Star Destroyer

The Tector-class is a bayless version of the Imperator-class. The ships appear almost the same, but the Tector is designed for ship-to-ship battle and is not as versatile as the ISD classes. Several potential weaknessess are missing on the Tector, including the large hangar bays and the ventral primary reactor bulb, which was removed in favour of several smaller reactors for increased redundancy. Replacing the fighters are vastly improved point defences. All statistics are estimated.

Magnate-class Star Destroyer

An even further upgrade from previous models of Star Destroyers, the Magnate, also known as the Mk IV Star Destroyer, NIF Star Destroyer or even the Nemesis Star Destroyer, dispatches the ability to dock smaller capships internally in turn for much improved starfighter capacity. The hangar space is not extended, only utilized more effectively. In addition the aircrew and groundcrew numbers were increased along with starfighter maintenance capacity. The Magnate also boosts very serious anti-starfighter and point defence weapons systems, making it relatively independent of the skirmish lines.

There are several other major differences from earlier Star Destroyer versions. They include an onboard central AI, tractor beams precision calibrated to slow down close range warheads and enemy fighters on a wider beam setting, and the prefab base was discarded and left to fleet transport ships in favour of carrying an extended mechanized assault force. The main battery layout is somewhat different from older star destroyers, giving it larger angles of coverage and allowing it to concentrate up to 90% of its firepower either forward or rearward, 50% broadside. Greater automation and an increased number of onboard help systems has kept the crew number largely the same.

Another point of interest is the new 'Stardust' Overdrive, which can for a short time double the ship's power output, or to a lesser degree over a longer time. The Magnate has replaced the torpedo launchers with the new advanced general purpose octet mass driver. These normally function as hypervelocity missile launchers, but can be autoloaded with a variety of flak shells or even loaded with asteroids. This enables the commander to fire a large variety of warheads from the Imperial inventory while maintaining the capability of firing salvos of up to 48 warheads. Finally it also sports automated backup shield generators and a cloaking device as standard. All in all a very potent ship, somewhat decreasing versatility for a greater punch in a stand up fight against heavy combattants, coupled with massive point defences against fighters, missiles, and projectiles, plus a sizeable army force. With three times the starfighter capacity and a general system modernization, the Magnate outmatches anything in its own weight class.

Imperator Mk III-class Star Destroyer

The Imperator Mk III subclass Star Destroyer was the result of serveral upgrades over years to the Imperator Mk II. It has improved armour and shields, and it features many more point defence weapons to make a Starbomber assault a nightmare, with much improved fast-tracking and sustained rapid-fire capacity lasers. It also has bow- and side-mounted double proton torpedo octet launchers and a cloaking device fitted as standard. It carries more support craft and typically third generation Imperial fighters such as Scimitar Starbombers and TIE Avengers.
Ref: Although never officially named, several subclasses of the Mk I and II existed. This ship reflects the upgraded ISDs under Thrawn's reign and subsequently under the Imperial Remnant.

Dominator-class Star Destroyer

The Dominator was KDY's answer to the popular Immobilizer-418. It is built on the standard hull of the Imperator-class Star Destroyer, but the superstructure holds four powerful gravity well projectors. Unfortunately, this also weakens the hull and the gravity well's immense power requirements causes a certain shield deficiency. Still, while this ship has reduced hangar size and armament compared to it's sister class, it is built for fleet engagements, unlike the Immobilizer. It is a highly versatile ship.

Harrow-class Star Destroyer

Harrow is a newer, two-engine ship building on the experiences of the Victory-class Star Destroyers, but it is not named Victory class since it was designed by Kuat Drive Yards as a competitor for Rendili Stardrive's immensely successful line of VSDs. It came into service after the Victory Mk II and only barely saw utilization before the Battle of Endor. It addresses the minor weaknesses found in the Victory Mk II-class, increasing the hangar capacity significantly (it is basically a copy of KDY's larger Imperator-class hangar, but it doesn't utilize the same amount of support ships), as well as improving the weaker shields and armour of the Mk II. Sometimes it is called the Advanced Victory Class, but this is entirely inofficial. It sports improved firepower and more standardized gun batteries. Harrow has the good atmospheric capability of the original Victory, with a larger army complement and better means to deploy it. All statistics are estimated.

Deflector-class Star Destroyer

The Deflector-class Star Destroyer is a one-of-a-kind ship type developed in NIF laboratories. It came first into NIF service after the first Battle of Sullust. The hull is based on the Dominator-class Star Destroyer, but instead of fielding gravity wells, it has four massive shield generators coupled with advanced projector systems, in addition to the ships own shields. These shield generators are used to project a shield away from the Deflector, in the shape of for example a wall, a hemisphere, or a sphere. Typically these powerful shields are used to shield a small fleet from enemy fire. While the shields will then absorb massive enemy fire and not hold out very long, it gives first strike capability to the so protected fleet. Additionally, the shields can be used to block the enemy from escaping a battefield, or protect against starfighters. Multiple Deflectors can work together to form several shields, or a stronger one. Enforcer Mk II-class Cruiser

The Enforcer Mk II was a remastery of the original Enforcer, to take advantage of new technological advancements. It is still meant to work in conjunction with the Immobilizer-418, but with the ability to become a bit more self reliant when needed. While less cargo room came of the advancements, this ship received enough of an overhaul to categorize it as a Medium Cruiser. With the addition of two more squadrons of fighters and a much needed addition of extra shield strength it has become a bit more of a force to be reckoned with. As well as the increased hyperdrive from a x2 to x1, to increased response time to sectors.

Victory Mk II-class Star Destroyer

The Victory Mk II-class Star Destroyer was never produced in large numbers since they did not come into service until after the Clone Wars had ended. It has several significant advantages over the original Victory Mk I-class, such as the powerful Hoersch-Kessel engines which together with trading off shield and hull strength increases the ship's speed and manoeuvrability. While he VSD I was made with orbital bombardment in mind, the VSD II is made for deep space combat. Although the VSDII has the same distinctive atmospheric manoeuvring surfaces at its flanks, this vessel is incapable of entering an atmosphere due to lack of repulsorlifts. The Imperial navy used these ships mainly for anti-rebel and -pirate sector patrols.

Victory Mk I-class Star Destroyer

The Victory Mk I-class Star Destroyer was designed near the end of the Clone Wars, and these ships formed the core of the Imperial Navy after the turbulent era. The concept of a massive, highly destructive starship was first researched during the Clone Wars. When it first went into service, it was considered the ultimate combat starship design until the advent of the Imperator-class Star Destroyer. As more ISDs were built, Victory Star Destroyers were being reassigned to planetary defence or moved to reserve fleets deep in the Galactic Core. These ships proved to be an important part of the Imperial Navy even though they are over three decades old. Few VSDs still serve in the Imperial Navy. The Corporate Sector Authority purchased 250 of these ships. VSD have more missile launchers than any other ship for its size. A single full volley could devastate even a heavy cruiser like an ISD, if hit. But improved point defences and EW on more modern ships means this is unlikely to say the least. It is one of the largest warships that can land on a planet and operate at any atmospheric altitude.

Cantwell-class Star Destroyer

The Cantwell-class Star Destroyer is one of the earliest predecessors to the Imperial Star Destroyer design. During the Clone Wars, this ship was designed to act as a reconaissance capital ship; deep behind enemy lines, the Cantwell was often isolated from the rest of the Republic fleet, and as such was forced to survive on its own for extended periods. When encountering enemy forces, the ship had to be powerful enough to survive a sustained attack and bring back information intact. The ship, though smaller and less heavily armed than the modern Star Destroyer, was crafted in the now-familiar wedge design, which gives it the designation of Star Destroyer. It features large and powerful sensor suites, capable of penetrating most forms of jamming, but overall, this is an outdated design.

Katana-class Cruiser

The Katana-class dreadnaught stems back from the Old Republic Katana fleet ten years before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. It was a project which meant to alleviate the extreme crew requirements of the dreadnaughts that made up the bulk of the fleets at that time with a new and highly automated slave circuit. While the project was technically a success, the crews were infected by a hive virus, and while becoming insane and dying, they slaved all the 200 ships in the fleet together and jumped blindly into hyperspace. The loss of the Katana fleet was a political scandal that sparked a renewed call for decentralized ship automation, away from central computers and toward a pool of droids. Eventually Grand Admiral Thrawn located and put the Katana fleet to use again.

Katana-class dreadnaughts are similar to standard Rendili dreadnaughts, but they have a darker hull which together with lack of internal lighting due to smaller crews originally nicknamed the Katana fleet "The Dark Force". The freed internal space was used for housing two fighter squadrons. The entire interior of the Katana-class was redesigned from the original Dreadnaughts. Dreadnaughts, even the Katana-class, lacks fire-linking capacity and fires all weapons seperately.

Dreadnaught-class Cruiser

The Dreadnaught was originally designed and commissioned by the Old Republic. At their prime time, they were the largest warships in service. Today they barely fit the class of medium cruisers. The standard Dreadnaught in the Imperial Navy is not significantly different from the original used in the Old Republic's. The ship maintains its weaponry. Even after refitting, this ship's sublight speed barely matches the speed of the Victory I-class Star Destroyer and still requires an extremely large crew. The reason for the large crew was that this ship made little use or no use of droid assistance. The Empire was able to add flight decks in its dreadnaughts to allow 12 fighters as well as 4 shuttlecraft onboard. Although sluggish, it remains a powerful ship in use in both the Imperial and the New Republic navies. It lacks fire-linking capability and must target and fire each weapon seperately.

Strike-class R (Reinforced) Cruiser

The Strike-class Cruiser was long time unique by its modular design. To many the cruiser's combat capabilities come as quite the surprise. It was designed to be mass produced in a limited amount of time due to the prefabricated component sections. This reduces construction time and it also dramatically lowers the cost of each vessel. It was a triumph of Imperial modular technology. The Strike Cruiser maintains 258 compartments, two of which are brigs. The interiors of the prefabricated sections can be easily modified for specific missions such as troop transport, planetary assault, prefabricated garrison base deployers or carrying a full squadron of starfighters after a short stay at a spaceyard. This enables the ship to change the mission profile of the vessel without the need to build entire new classes of ships to fill needed roles.

The modularity of the vessel meant that the ship could break apart if it took too many critical hits by heavy weapons. As the Rebellion dragged on in a protracted war, the fall of Byss meant that large ships became rare and the Imperial Remnant felt the need to make the otherwise useful Strike-class cruiser less vulnerable by reinforcing the ship's superstructure and attached modules. Although the upgrade was a success, these connections remain the main weakness of the Strike-class, a fact recognized and adapted to by both sides of the war.

This enables the ship to change the mission profile of the vessel without the need to build entire new classes of ships to fill needed roles. The weakness of this vessel is that entire systems or weapon batteries can be knocked out by well placed shots as the modular connections fail. Or in combat, if the parts of the Strike Cruiser's internal structure are destroyed the vessel will break itself apart.

At the time of the Strike Cruiser's design, the warship's weakness was considered only a minor flaw. These ships are tough, versatile and well armed. The shields are very capable and the ship is often deployed in large numbers. These ships were in service before the Battle of Yavin. Unfortunately, the Rebels and several other groups have been able to obtain a few of these ships for their terrorist or pirate uses, including refitting some with gravity well generators. Loronar began to produce Strike-class cruisers for the New Republic until the Battle of Nam Chorios in 48 GR, after which the Loronar contract was cancelled. However LDI regained favour enough to later produce the followup Belarus-class for the NR navy.

Vindicator-class Cruiser

This Kuat Drive Yards warship was developed and manufactured to help fill the gap in the Imperial Navy, whenever Imperial-class Star Destroyers were unavailable and smaller ships were not powerful enough. The basic hull of this craft, which was created from designs developed by Wilhuff Tarkin himself, was later reused as the platform for the Immobilizer 418 Interdictor-class cruiser by Sienar. This ship is unusual for its size in that it carries no support fighters. It makes up for this shortcoming by sporting potent point defences. It is a highly versatile ship, capable of moderate fleet combat, effective screening duty, and a fine support and patrol ship.

Enforcer-class Cruiser

The Enforcer is built on the same hull as the Immobilizer-418, but without the structural weakness of gravity well projectors, while instead making room for a hangar. Rearrangement of the power grid allowed additional weaponry, strengthened shields, and higher sublight acceleration. It was designed to be a fast flanking and escort vessel, particularly to work in conjunction with its sister class, the Immobilizer-418, in anti-pirate task forces in the outer reaches of the galaxy. The Enforcer is very capable of attacking and defeating small frigates and corvettes, highly maneuverable and very well armed for its size, making for a light cruiser with excellent performance. The only problem is a lack of heavy weapons, making it unsuitable for fleet combat. (Ref: most sources gives the ship just 10 tl batteries. This can be considered inaccurate due to GEDB fluff. For the same reason and listed details, the ship can be considered having 14 QL instead of 10).

Neutralizer 418-class Cruiser

Yet another ship based on the same design as the Vindicator-class, the Abolisher is a direct sister to the Immobilizer 418. This ship is a speciality interdictor. Instead of mounting gravity wells, it has five pulsemass generators, aka pebble-spreaders. They create and scatter tiny spheres of hyperenergy in a small select area of space. These hyperspheres do not directly prevent the use of a hyperdrive, but they are highly dangerous to any ship in hyperspace and can literally rip them apart while still in hyperspace. The problem with these devices is that the spheres dissipate their energy in a few minutes, limiting their effective duration. For this reason, the Abolisher is used less for blockades and more as an offensive weapon against ships incoming from or jumping to hyperspace. Ships in realspace are not affected by the hyperspheres. The Abolisher is not a canon ship, but it is entirely based on canon technology and perfectly viable.

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Immobilizer-418 class Cruiser

Gravity well ships, also called interdictors, came into existance many months after the Battle of Yavin. After the Empire learned that it was possible to generate an artificial gravity well after an accidental discovery in the Sedri System, the data collected was researched for many months. Finally Imperial scientists discovered how to create gravity well generators, which were then mounted in the first gravity well ship, the newly constructed Immobilizer-418 cruisers. Interdictors are used by the Empire to prevent ships from entering hyperspace or to pull ships out of hyperspace into realspace into an ambush or customs inspection. They are placed on the perimeter of a battle area or potential battle area, giving the captains of the interdictors a clear view of the battle, so they can precisely target the placement of gravity wells to prevent Rebel ships from escaping into hyperspace. Gravity well ships are now a fairly common sight in the galaxy, and every fleet should have at least one. For armament, this speciality cruiser only has anti-fighter lasers, and needs to be guarded from other capital ships. In addition to its gravity wells, this ship is a specialized EW combatant, able to jam enemy missiles and torpedos (Ref: Empire At War).

Although gravity well projectors can be effective weapons, they have certain limitations. Powering up takes 30 seconds, and powering up again after a shutdown takes 40 seconds. Thus it takes at least 70 seconds for a well-trained crew to relocate a gravity well. Additionally, a simulated planetary mass is as difficult to move as an actual planet. Finally the great energy demands of gravity well projectors also affects available power for the interdictor, typically decreasing maneuverability and accelerative thrust. Many Immobilizers had their weaponry reduced from the Vindicator's capital-grade laser cannons to equally powerful but more slowly firing two-stage turbolasers to accomodate the gravity wells. This was later found to be unnecessary.

The Richocet is the result of NIF’s experience with the Liberator Cruiser combined with newer technology to form a so-called slugging ship. The resulting vessel has the firepower and armor of a small star destroyer with the shields and carrying capacity of a star frigate. Thus, the Richocet is an adept and purposely designed offensive vessel designed solely for space superiority. The Battle Horn class is a standard modification of the Old Republic sector defence fleet bulk cruisers. They are very rugged and reliable (unlike their sister class, the Neutron Star) with reasonable shielding. The Rebel Alliance typically relegated these ships to transport duty. The Neutron Star is not as numerous as its more successful sister class, the Battle Horn, but they are relatively common with pirate groups in the Outer Rim. Slow and bulky, armed with lasers only, they pose little threat to an enemy other than as close support anti-fighter vessels.

Class 1000 Light Cruiser

Many Imperial warships favour firepower over defences, and the Class 1000 is a prime example of it. If it wasn't for its impressive armament - 28 long-range turbolasers - this dimunitive ship would hardly be classed as a light cruiser. On the up side, it is a relatively low-cost vessel with small crew and maintenance needs. It was typically deployed by the Empire in non-hostile systems, with patrol, customs, and/or defence duties. While it doesn't have the strenght of shields or armour to stand up even to a heavier frigate, it does sport enough firepower to quickly dispatch such threats.

Broadside-class Missile Cruiser

The Broadside was made in the early days of the Galactic Civil War for the Imperial Navy as a long-range missile ship. Most models of the Broadside were lightly armored and had small crews. Early models carried a payload of expensive diamond boron missiles, which high-yield area effect detonations proved useful against tightly packed ship formations. Later models were fitted with more economical concussion missiles. It is a relatively slow ship with moderate manuverability which is not capable of standing up to enemy cruisers on its own. Hence, the Broadside is a typical support ship working in conjuction with larger capital ships, or if deployed without such, always with an escort. All data estimated.

Carrack Mk II-class Cruiser

Three years after the reemergence by the Nemesis and the establishment of the NIF government, Imperial researchers took the aging but still useful Carrak light cruiser and modernized it with the purpose of creating a more effective design, prolong the life of the design, and reduce the cost to run it. The result is the Carrack Mk II. It uses essentially the same hull as the original Carrack. The main differences are an extension of the dorsal hull structure and the addition of an internal hangar. The Carrack Mk II has undergone extensive modification and upgrade. In addition to increased automation, it boasts more efficient systems, a hangar, added armor, added shield power, improved fire control and additional weaponry. Along with the many improvements, several hull weaknesses were removed. A lateral thruster system was added which causes the ship to be more maneuverable than the original, but also less modular internally. This cruiser has since quickly become a staple in the NIF Navy. Carrack-class Type B Cruiser

The Carrack is an old design but is proven effective and as such, still serves in the Imperial Navy. It is modular in structure and very resistant to damage. Unfortunately this compartmentalization system takes up too much interior space to fit the Carrack with hangars. At only 350 metres in length, the Carrack is comparable with a Dreadnaught in firepower. It is also one of the fastest ship types in the Imperial Navy. The Carrack exists in a few standard configurations. The only difference between the regular Carrack and the Type B is that the lasers have been replaced with Ion Cannons. It can carry 4 starfighters if the dropship is omitted. Rebel Carracks usually carry only two Z-95 Headhunters. Tractor beams are not part of the original configuration, but all late-era Carracks have been refitted with such.

Carriers

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Vanquisher-class Fleet Carrier

The Vanquisher is the largest dedicated carrier yet built. It was designed in the heyday of the Empire, and could provide most of the fighter complement for an entire fleet singlehandedly. The typically triangular structure of larger KDY ships are broken into frontal mandibles containing multiple docking facilities for almost 2,000 starfighters, typically mainly TIE fighters. It also has a sleek, heavily armoured surface and firepower enough to handle a cruiser or two. All statistics are estimated. This is an entry for the heavy carrier part of Adm.Giel's armada.

Illustrious-class Fleet Carrier

The Illustrious-class Fleet Carrier was created off of the stolen New Republic Endurance carrier, to create a more standardized carrier class for the New Imperial Federation. The Endurance had many lax protocols in conception, that were addressed upon creation of the NIF version the Illustrious. The biggest correction was the lack of utilization of the interior of the hangar bay, it was reconfigured to make room for 26 additional squadrons. It was also discovered that to enable it to function a bit more independantly that a MRP was needed to help replace equipment.

Venator-class Star Destroyer Mk-II

The addition of a small hangar built into the underside of the vessel for housing more modern TIE Fighter configurations. What is interesting about extra hangar is that a small series of lifts can transfer fighters from the main through several armor reinforced decks in the event of the main hangar doors becoming damaged to the lower hangar, and vice versa. This takes in the carrier roles needs as well as to retrofit a few of the weapons systems with modernized equipment. However, this will reduce current troop allowances as part of the lift system cuts through where present barracks space, and ground warfare elements are stored. This joint hangar system means that under fire, these ships can release their fighters without opening their main structural weakness, the main bay doors, and still deploy fighters if albeit at a significantly reduced rate. Without the new upgrades over the original Venator, the combat weaknesses would have outweighed its continued usefullness.

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Venator-class Star Destroyer

Following the Battle of Geonosis, the Separatist movement created a fleet of dreadnaughts to achieve naval supremacy against the Republic. The previously so successful Acclamator-class Military Transport was considered insufficient to handle the new opponent, and the Venator-class was born. They fought the decisive Battle of Coruscant and proved more than able to handle the dreadnaughts. Not long after, the advent of the even more massive Imperator-class Star Destroyer relegated the Venator to a secondary place, but the design lineage did not die out as it inspired the Class II cruiser, which in itself was a followup concept on the overpowered Class I Light Cruiser. Building on the Acclamator's design, the Venator is capable of landing for troop deployment of its Clone Wars era sized three battallions

The Venator is special in that it features a massive, single flight deck with massive dorsal slide hangar doors which can hold and very quickly launch an impressive amount of starfighers, but this is also a major structural weakness that was abandoned in the later Imperator. The ship also has several other problems, such as the broadside guns having too small firing arcs. To improve the point defences, modifications were sometimes made to include separated SHPA turbolaser mounts on the ventral side. It is a multi-role ship but with a strong emphasize on the carrier role.

Prowler-class Escort Carrier Mk-II

The Prowler Mk-II is a reworking marvel of the interior of the original Prowler. Two repairs bays have been moved to ad an additional squadron of fighters, the Lambda shuttles have been changed with Combat Utility Vehicles, thus making them smaller, and adding an additional squadron of fighters. The removal of 800 troops, removes the supplies neededs for them overtime, as well as their quarters. This adds a resounding 3 squadrons worth of room. A bit of automation has been added, thus reducing the crew capacity slightly helping provide the appropriated room for shuttles. External docking rings have been added to improve the resupply time of the ship.

Interceptor-class Carrier

The Interceptor-class is built on the frame of the Vindicator-class Light Cruiser, just like the Enforcer-class or the Immobilizer-418. Instead of the four bulging gravity well projectors of its sister class, it has rectangular starfighter hangars protruding slightly above the hull. They were very rare in the Galactic Civil War, since the Imperial navy never saw any use of a ship that was essentially a small Imperator-class. The navy chose the lighter Prwoler-class Escort Carrier over the more powerful Interceptor which can enter a naval battle on its own, unlike the previous. It can defend itself well against starfighters, and have enough armament to challenge frigates and light cruisers. They are also cheap and easy to maintain and crew since they are built with the same equipment as their multiple sister classes. 12 of these ships were sold to the CSA.

Prowler-class Escort Carrier

The Prowler-class Escort Carrier's only role is to carry an entire TIE wing into battle, and keep them serviced, fueled, and loaded at all times. The standard Imperial chute system allows it to rapidly deploy fighters, and it features limited repair facilities as well. They are lighty armed for defence only, normally hanging in the back of a fleet to launch fighters and serve as returning supply points for the TIE fighters it carries. Two laser cannons can be replaced with tractor beams if preferred. The ship's hull is very similar to Kuat's Super Transport series, and was likely adopted from it, although dissimilar in size. A typical tactic was to perform a series of mini-jumps within a system, while dropping off fighters at each point, making it difficult for enemy rebels and pirates to predict incoming attack vectors.

Eidolon-class Carrier

Eidolon was a unique prototype vessel, built in secrecy by Kuat Drive Yards. It was based on Loronar's Strike Cruiser, but heavily modified and intended to be a carrier. It was automated to a larger degree, allowing the use of only a small crew. Special rotating TIE Fighter racks was added to it, allowing it to launch fighters very rapidly. The Eidolon was used by Grand Vizir Sate Pestage as a weapons cache, to be used against the New Republic, should the Empire ever fall (although this was also a political ruse). It was lost on its maiden voyage since it was attacked and forced to blind jump into hyperspace because the ship was barely spaceworthy. The ship ended up buried in the Tatooine desert, with its weapons cache still intact. The location of it was kept secret until the New Republic's Rogue Squadron managed to secure it. The remains of the Eidolon was dubbed Eidolon Base. After it was looted by the NR, the base remained and a group of Imperial supporters who didn't want to travel to the Remnant took control of it. Over time the NR ceded the territory to the Imperials, and Eidolon Base became a wealthy city.

KDY presumably still holds the design plans for the ship, and could create more Eidolon-class vessels, though it is not known if they have done so. All statistics are estimated.

Phalanx-class Assault Carrier

This ship was originally known as the Madine-class or Storm Commando Carrier, since it was predominantly used by the elite corps developed by Crix Madine. After his traitorous defection the ship class was renamed Phalanx. Once only used by Storm Commandos, the ship proved useful in numerous applications, and participated in the Battle of Fondor. It is a remarkably versatile ship with high speed, atmospheric maneuverability, varied armament, and a load of starfighters, typically TIE/LN and TIE Hunters. It can serve as a small carrier, a close air support gunship, a troop transport, a screening vessel, a light escort, or a patrol ship, all in the same configuration. The ship has a side bay, three main engines, stabilizator fins and a small crew supplemented by automated systems and maintenance droids. Ref: Very little canon data is known about this ship. Most of this article is based on observations and estimates, including the name.

Regulas-class Heavy Destroyer

With emphasis on faster speeds to come to the aid of other fleet units the Regulas is equipped with four heavier engines, two primary, two secondary, culminating in an overpowered drive system. In order to promote its defenses when working towards assisting beleagured ships under heavy fire, the Regulus uses a MIST and MISS defense systems, and a sensor shroud to assist in prolonging its usefulness. Due to space constraints, modestly aggressive amounts of automation has been used to reduce crew needs, and provide room for extra hypermatter reactor space. With the necessity of its closed in design- space onboard is very limited in the spirit of the old Halcyon. One would hardly find a cabin with more size then of a prison cell onboard. It possesss one major reactor hooked into the bowels of the ship, nestled securely in extra armor. Because of the voraciousness of the systems use, this vessel is noted to require a strict regimen of maintenence from its crew to upkeep its system's viability.

Gladiator-class Star Destroyer

This ship was intended as an escort for Victory-class Star Destroyers, but the design was delayed past prime date for the Victory-class and it was instead commissioned as a long-range patrol ship. One of the more famous ships of this class, the Demolisher, was ironically stolen and used by the pirate Gir Kybo Ren-Cha. It is predominantly a missile carrier, sporting capital grade concussion missiles and torpedoes which are fed into the launchers via auto-loading conveyor belts. It has varied armament but too lightly to serve as anything other than a long-range missile support and micro-carrier in fleet engagements. In an anti-pirating role it is reasonably effective.

Bayonet-class Light Cruiser

The Bayonet was produced by Elrood StarYards Limited under a Sienar contract. For a time, it served in the Imperial navy, but was soon considered obsolete and discontinued except for limited customs and patrol duty in the Rim, in spite of its excellent performance. Many Outer Rim governments continued to use the ship however, particularly in the Elrood Sector. For a light cruiser, it is diminutive in size, which is probably why it was discarded by the Empire, which favoured larger, more imposing ships. With the onboard probe and shuttle, it can also be used for survey missions.

Victory II-class Frigate

Speculative: The original Victory I-class Frigate was designed to act as an escort for Victory Mk I-Star Destroyers. The Mk II model was in the same vein intended to be paired with Victory Mk II Star Destroyers, but by the time, the newer Imperator Star Destroyer had taken over the main line role, and so the Vic 2 frigate mostly came be escorts of ISDs. The Vic 2 frigate is surprisingly little known considering that it participated in the blockade following the infamous Battle of Yavin. It had one main ion engine, two secondary, and like its larger namesake stabilizer fins which improves atmospheric flying. It is mainly used as an escort and screening vessel although it has an emphasize on heavy armament that would make it better suited as a medium ship killer rather than for the anti-fighter role. It has a fair amount of laser defences but no hangar bay. Ref: All statistics are estimated.

Nebulon-B2 class Frigate

Kuat Drive Yards experimented with improving the Nebulon-B design without loss of performance. The Nebulon-B2 was the answer. It features a shorter, but comparatively reinforced hull, improved firepower and shielding, making it an extremely well armed ship for its size. Its only shortcoming is a certain limitation in sublight acceleration, making the ship unsuitable for pursuit. It is still 17% faster than the original Nebulon.

Nebulon-B class Frigate

These seven engine ships were seen by the Empire as the solution to the rebel and pirate problem. Since the Imperial Navy began assigning these vessels to escort duty, the Rebels found it deadly attacking Imperial convoys. They have have several docking fixtures for light and medium freighters, sophisticated sensors and deep-space, multi-frequency antennas, allowing them to function as long-range scouts or relay battle information to a command ship. Though they are medium sized combat vessels, they have more weaponry then any other combat vessel in their class except the Carrack-class Cruiser. Their contingent of starfighters makes it the superior vessel. Eventually they were phased out in favour of the newer and faster Lancer frigates.

Acclamator-class Star Frigate

Since the Acclamator-class was so successful, and more dedicated warships was needed in the Clone Wars, a version using the Acclamator hull was made into a Star Frigate. The "Star" nomenclature meant one of the new Imperial supervessels, larger and more powerful than its predecessors (of note is the Mon Calamari "Star" cruisers which doesn't follow this categorization). This is quite fitting since the Acclamator Star Frigate is 752 metres long - very large indeed for a mere frigate. Unfortunately, the armament isn't much better than ships half its size. Since the frigate version had a different focus, the strategic torpedo launchers, intended for planetary bombardment, were removed. They were considered of little use against capital ships since they take several minutes to aim. The armament was improved with heavier turbolaser turrets and better accuracy. The cavernous transport compartment was transformed into a spacious hangar which typically carries four TIE fighter squadrons and two TIE bomber squadrons. The end result is something of a multi-role ship which can work either as an assault carrier or an escort frigate with extra punch.

Halcyon-class Frigate

An extremely fast ship, designed to work in groups of 3 or 4. These ships are meant to be patrol ships, or a fast reaction force with plenty of punch. With the fastest hyperdrive available in the NIF, and a compliment of fighters, this ship can perform almost any role reasonably well. The special turreted heavy turbolaser batteries enable it to track much faster-moving targets than it normally could, making them extremely deadly. Unfortunately, these ships sacrifice internal space to accomodate all the equipment onboard, and it is very cramped inside. An advantage of this, though, is that the ship is near-undestroyable, remaining structurally intact even after being rendered combat-ineffective. However, these ships are rather expensive for something of this size, but their value in battle has yet to be seen. Complete Technical Readout

Inégalement-class Frigate

The Inégalement-class Frigate is spheric egg of armor, with an extended rear unarmoured section with four engines, main hyperdrive and two batteries of quadlasers. Only one plate of "armor" between the "Egg" and engines is a highspeed tube-train that transports technicians who perform engine maintence. The connection between engines and the armor is four quad AA laser batteries. In the rear, between the bottom engines, is a docked TIE/Shuttle, which serves to transport crew or, in emergency, act as escape pod of technicians serving in rear of ship. In the "egg" are main weaponry: five quad turbolaser turrets and four launchers on each side and four quad lasers on top and the same number on bottom. Which provides anti-aircraft & anti-missile protection. All this propulsion and weaponry is sustained by the main reactor from an Acclamator-class Frigate, which is protected under armor; under the armor is a hidden bridge, crew quarters, mess hall, main droid repair station, and a hangar bay large enough in size for one Lambda Shuttle, all of these areas are pressurized ship areas. The rest of ship is unpressurized. Because energy intensity on this type of ship reactor is extremely large, the ship has four strong-heterogeneous shield generators which covers the top, sides, front, rear, and bottom of hull. In fact, ship wouldn't be as large, but with the size and weaponry that is onboard it is more likely as a weapon of determent, which however will take no power in direct battle, if battle goes accordingly.

Lancer-class Frigate Mk IIB

The Lancer Mk IIB is an NIF follow up on the nearly unknown Lancer Mk II design. The Lancer Mk II was a project intended to improve certain obvious deficiencies in the original Lancer, such as too low speed to be effective and high maintenance. It had doubled amount of weaponry, greatly increased speed and improved fire control. While the Mk II design was lost along with its inventor, the Mk IIB takes the improvements of the Mk II a further step with more modern equipment such as backup shields, laser cannons with extreme range, stronger hull and higher automation level. It features two ion engines for increased redundancy over a single large one. The result is without doubt the most effective dedicated anti-starfighter ship in the known galaxy. New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Lancer-class Frigate

The Lancer-class Frigate was designed after the Battle of Yavin, when the admiralty experienced an exaggerated fear of rebel starfighter attacks upon Imperial shipping. The Lancer was the answer, created as the foremost anti-starfighter sihp in the galaxy. The threat was never realised to the degree as was expected, and since the Lancer is relatively expensive, it was never produced in large quantities. Most of the Lancers were relegated to attacks on rebel starfighter bases. Grand Admiral Thrawn realized the value of these ships during his campaign against the New Republic, and the existing Lancers were once more put to good use as fleet screening vessels. The Lancer is equipped solely with 20 Corellian AG-2G Quad Laser Cannons, on elevated turrets for maximum firing arcs, each with superior targeting and tracking capability, calibrated specifically for use against starfighters, and with a dedicated power generator to each weapon. This configuration makes it an uncomparable foe against starfighters, but also render it defenceless against other capital ships. Aside from cost, the Lancer suffers from low power. The gunners have to carefully balance power needs to keep all weapons operational. This problem also gives the Lancer a relatively slow 40 MGLT thrust, which gives it a too low acceleration to chase fighters with.

Lancer-class model C Frigate

The Lancer-class model C Frigate is a modification upon the standard Lancer class. It replaces the original 20 starfighter-grade laser cannons with 10 capital-grade laser cannons. These changes were made without adding powerplants to make up for the heavier armament, so it instead causes a certain shield deficiency compared to the standard Lancer. The new guns are also less effective in tracking starfighters, although the model C has the same primary purpose as the original ship, anti-starfighter screening. To make up for the lower efficiency, the model C was usually accompanied with a trio of Skipray Blastboats, forming a hunter-killer group. The model C has, unlike the original, capacity to defend itself against light capital ships.

Gloire-class Escort Frigate

The intention of the Gloire-class Escort Frigate is to produce a multi-role support ship to the rectify the dominant weaknesses of the NIF Navy’s traditional mainstay cruisers, such as the Liberator or Strike-class Cruisers. The main faults of these being a lack of anti-starfighter weaponry, kinetic weapons, and flexibility. Aside from the Gloire’s purpose in aiding the said cruisers in battle (and thus ensuring their survival), the Gloire will primarily serve as an anti-starfighter screening vessel to combat enemy starfighters at range. As starfighters appear to be an integral focus of the New Republic’s doctrine, their subsequent defeat or determent before reaching NIF battle lines allows current systems such as MISS, MIST, or NIF starfighters to be more capable of dealing with their foes. In effect, the Gloire will combine the roles of the Lancer Frigate, a missile support cruiser, as well as modular transport.

Wraith-class Monitor

The Wraith-class packs oversized firewpower comparable with the Strom-class, but with turreted weapons. Although this allows the ship to separate and aim fire, it lacks hangar capacity. While shorter, it has somewhat larger internal volume and reactor output. Aside from the two primary turrets, comparable to ISD heavy turbolaser cannons, the Wraith also sports four additional heavy turrets and a torpedo launcher. The Wraith also has excellent atmospheric capability unlike the Strom, capable of extensive operations as well as landing, making this vessel highly suitable to close-range precision bombardment with heavy weapons. However, the ship is not well suited to handle fighter assaults. The ship is plated in darkened bronzium, making it highly radiation-resistant as well as moderately stealthy, together with the two by two tight-beam engine banks. All statistics are estimated.

Pursuit-class Monitor

This ship class is a Kuat Drive Yards monitor designed in the early days of the Empire. A monitor is a heavily armoured small ship with very heavy weaponry; the two turbolasers on the class are proportionally oversized for this two-engine frigate-sized vessel, matching ISD heavy turbolasers. The concept of the monitor was never very popular with the Empire, so it remained in small numbers and was used mainly for pirate control, operating alone, although it is designed to threaten cruisers and bombard planets with precision. Although it has enough firepower - and superior range - to quickly deal with enemy corvettes and frigates, it is generally not fast and maneouverable enough to track small ships. But the ships tractor beam, once locked on, can slow down an agile opponent sufficiently to expose it to the superior weaponry of the monitor. The main weakness of the vessel is that it can only fire its main weaponry in a forward arc. It also has somewhat lacking defences against starbombers, but the onboard TIE fighters (usually TIE Ad/x1) makes up for it. All specification statistics are estimated.

Doomgiver-class Military Transport

Although claimed to have drawn its design from the Executor-class Star Dreadnaught, the Doomgiver has nothing in common with the larger ship. This six-engined vessel features a unique design carrying 100 drop pods on its ventral side in six rows. Each of these pods are 21 m in diameter and 35 m high, divided into four sections. The largest section covering 2/5ths of the bottom is reserved for 4 AT-ST walkers. The next section, 1/5th of the size, holds 160 troopers. Above these are the storage compartment and the command deck. The walker and trooper bays have four doors each which acts as landing bridges.

These pods are dropped from orbit, reaches their targets very quickly, and break for landing. They then act as self-contained fortresses which can fully support and guide its troops. They are also heavily armoured and has a set of 4 laser cannons for defence. The pods are unable to return to orbit, but the Doomgiver's shuttles can tractor-beam them back to the ship for reload. All statistics are estimated.

Modular Taskforce Cruiser Mk II

The Star Hauler-class, aka Modular Taskforce Cruiser, was designed according to a new concept in the Imperial Navy, modularity. Rather than constructing specialized ships for each function, this vessel was designed to be reconfigured as needed. The cruiser has an underlaying structure that allows it to be built fast. It is a single frame with engines, skeleton crew quarters, life support system and command compartments, but in the middle of the frame is a single replaceable module with mission specific equipment. In just a day at an orbital dock, the cruiser can be changed from intelligence ship to hospital ship. The armament is light for a ship of its size, but it is intended to be a support ship, not a combat vessel. During dangerous missions, MTCs are normally escorted. Standard modules includes a survey module, an observation module, a hospital module, a rescue module and an interrogation module. The Mk II version was developed by the NIF specifically and is only used by them. It differs from the original mainly by having much improved point defences and auxilliary shield generators, like the Mon Calamari designs or the Imperator Mk III.

Each mission module is an entire self-contained unit. The module need only be attached to the frame and connected to the power generators, life support and communications ports of the ship in order to work. It is believed that Tagge Industries is working on mini-modules so the Taskforce Cruiser can be outfitted for a variety of smaller-scale functions. The NIF has developed new modules with licensing from Tagge Co.

Acclamator-class Transport

The Acclamator-class is best noted for being the forerunner to the famous Imperator-class. It entered service in the beginning of the Clone Wars. One new aspect for a capital ship was that the Acclamator-class could move through planetary atmospheres as well as the vacuum of deep space. This meant that separate dropships were not required, and it could deploy its troops in under two minutes. It was also equipped with the fastest hyperdrives available. Though it does not have the firepower to be a frontline warship in the imperial era, the Acclamator was nevertheless distinguished as the first ship capable of carrying out a Base Delta Zero order with its missiles - terminating all life on a planet without survivors, something never seen in the Old Republic until the onset of the Clone Wars (Older records speak of similar events during special cirumstances during the Sith wars). The missiles, while powerful, take several minutes to aim and is of limited use in a battle against capital ships.

So effective and impressive were the Acclamators that many leading shipbuilders began incorporating similar concepts into their own fleets. Rendili Stardrive followed a few short years later with the development of their historic Victory-class Star Destroyer. (Ref: AOTC:ICS, AOTC).

Star Galleon

In response to rebel raids, the Star Galleon was designed to be a transport ship that needed no escort. In addition to being armed, the ship is packed with anti-intrusion devices such as blaster slits, gas dispensers, force fields and heavy blast doors. The ship's interior can be partially reconfigured from the bridge. The actual cargo pod is located in the centre of the ship and can be jettisoned by means of splitting the ship in two halves. It carries its own hyperdrive and conduct a series of random jumps selected from hundreds of pre-programmed coordinates. At each stop, the pod stops for a pre-set number of hours before jumping to the next location.

A top-secret hypertranciever signal will transmit the pod's location to Imperial forces who can then pick up the cargo via another top-secret slaving code. The pod itself is unarmed, but has additional internal anti-intrusion defences such as fragmentation explosives, locks with high-charge electric shocks, and automatic anti-personnel blasters.

The Star Galleon has been called an Escort Frigate, and has served as an escort vessel when nothing else was available, but the ship is only very lightly armed can be taken out by any real military vessel. Some Star Galleons have been modified with additional side missile launchers. A single Galleon can contain enough materials and machines that a new colonial city can be set up in days or weeks.

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Lector-class Corvette

The Lector class is different from almost all other capital ships in the galaxy. The most important thing to know is that its hull form is that of a sphere instead of the more typical boxy, wedge, or tubular shapes of most vessels. The two most prominent advantages of this design is a large interior volume compared to length, and ease of shielding. In the very center of the ship is the main hyper matter reactor. Above and below it are auxiliary reactors and wrapped around the main reactor are the hyperdrive systems, fuel tanks, and the shield generator and projector. Then around that are all the store rooms to house the Lector’s year and a half of consumables. The four ion engines are in a two by two configuration and mounted semi internally. Semi internally meaning that most of the engine mechanics are inside the hull while the thrust nozzles protrude outside it. The small shuttle bay is below the main engine cluster. The armament of the Lector is also fairly unique in that none of her beam weapons are in a fixed position. All the turbolaser, quad laser, and ion cannon turrets ride along a system of tracks built onto the outside of the hull. These tracks are laid out so thoroughly that up to 16 turrets can be brought to fire on a single target. This makes her armarment much more efficent than most other ships whose weapons are in fixed positionts. In order to balance weapons between both sides and the front and back, ships with fixed weapons can most likely only bring 40-50% of their weapons to bear in and one direction. The tractor beams and general purpose launchers are on fixed mounts. There is one general purpose launcher on each pole of the ship and the tractor beams are spaced equally around the equator. With her heavy shielding, the Lector can take a beating far beyond that of any other corvette and even most frigates, giving it the combat lifespan of three or four other corvettes. The single shuttle and handful of troops lets the Lector attempt small boarding actions and ground assaults while also giving it a large troop force for counter boarding.

Marauder Mk III-class Corvette

The New Imperial Federation employed and upgraded Marauder-class Corvettes with distinction for years, and finally decided in 53 GR to go all the way and create a modern version of it. It uses the exact same superstructure and base schematics as the original version to allow older Marauders to eventually be upgraded to the Mk III. It utilizes modern electronics and wiring together with the latest in cryocooling and power systems, giving it a small but significant boost in shielding, enging thrust, and firepower. It was also given a few 360-degrees maneuvering ion stream jets which gives it improved maneuverability in both space and air, allowing it to fly more like a sluggish starfighter than a capital ship. Half of the cargo compartment was redesigned as additonal hangar space plus a modest warhead magazine. Some equipment was replaced by smaller but just as efficient versions (such as the retractable turbolaser cannons), giving it additional room for troops as well. While a capable microcarrier and boarding support ship, the Mk III was also intended to maintain and expand upon the original ship's capacity for ground action. Since the original ship was noted for unusually accurate tractor beam projectors, clever design has kept the targeting system and added a sensor shroud suite, allowing the improved targeting systems to feed all weapons with accurate data.

Marauder Mk II-class Corvette

This variant of the Marauder is a missile ship. It has little armament beyond its missile tubes. Orginally they fired diamond boron missiles which proved too expensive and later models use more conventional concussion missiles. It was predominantly used by the rebel Alliance, since the Empire employed Broadside-class corvettes for equivalent purpose. By sacrificing part of its warhead storage, up to 36 fighters can be carried.

Marauder Corvette

Originally designed for the Republic, it was declined without any fault in the design itself, so after slow sales it was licensed for production in the Corporate Sector Authority where it is widely used, making this ship is a common sight in the outer rim. Sienar-built Marauders are older but have more credits in their interiors, whereas CSA Marauders are newer but more economically installed. Since the ship has no flaws it has remained in use for decades past the Rebellion. It is a very versatile design, being well armed, carrying troops as well as fighters. Streamlined for atmospheric operation, it is also an excellent close-range support ship as well. Due to their very accurate tractor beams, they are often coupled with interdictors for ship capture. The basic model supports eight turbolasers with an optional four more with a larger powerplant installed. Some Marauders convert part of its 300 ton cargo compartment to carry more fighters, shuttles, or armoured vehicles. Weaponry source: EGTVV

Corellian Heavy Gunship

Roughly twice as powerful as the small but heavily armed DP-20 class gunship, this vessel came into use around the Dark Empire Era and saw extensive use in the Imperial Starfleet. It is pretty much at the upper end of what one can concievably call a corvette in size and firepower. The heavy dual engines gives it almost as much thrust as smaller corvettes, but like the DP-20, the ship is too filled with equipment for any kind of hangar or other support vessels. Nearly as capable an anti-starfighter platform as its cousin which excels in this role, it has 20% less powerful but just as accurate laser cannons, much heavier albeit fewer turbolasers emplacements and missile launchers. While the DP-20 is foremost a screening vessel and a fleet raider and heavy ship harasser secondly, the heavy gunship turns those roles around, plus it has much better survivability than most corvettes with its stronger shields and armour.

Forseti-Class Patrol Ship

The Forseti-Class Patrol Ship is primarily meant as a replacement for the aging Imperial Customs Corvette design. With enhanced passive sensor systems and stealth capabilities, it is able to sneak up much closer to targets with a minimized chance of being detected, and of being targeted after it has been detected. These capabilities also allow it to competently act in a recon role. Additionally, the Forseti class is more capable of operating independantly for extended periods of time, and is capable of taking on larger capital ships than the Imperial Customs Corvette was capable of, and standing a good chance of coming back from the battle.

Minestra-class Corvette

Better known as the Imperial Light Customs Corvette, this ship was designed for the Imperial Customs Office and not the Imperial Starfleet. It was used extensively for enforcing the law in the Rim, every system with a branch office generallly had at least one of these ships and important ones several. Aptly armed and blindingly fast at sublight, it makes an ideal vessel to hunt pirates and other lightly armed insurgents. Additionally, it has long range turbolasers (75 SU). The Rodian Home Fleet and several other smaller local forces bought them for defence. Unfortunately, a few of these vessels have also found their way to said pirates, who often make an effort to capture them. The illegal shipbuilding market "shadowports" also manufacture pirate copies of the Minestra-class. The two forward mandibles on the hull functions as loading and docking facilities, similar to those found on the YR-series light freighters from the Corellian Engineering Corporation.
This class was provincially named after the first known ship of the type.

Vibre-class Assault Cruiser

Following the Battle of Endor, the remnant fleets of the Empire began raiding New Republic convoys for supplies. It soon became as much of a problem to New Republic shipping as the Rebel Alliance had been to the Empire. One of the most effective ships used by Imperial forces in this period is the Vibre Class Assault Cruiser, designed specifically for privateering and introduced shortly before Mon Mothma's resignation as Chief of State. It is plated with matte-black armour with a layer of stealth coating bonded to it. The shape of the ship is dictated by its mission profile. The Vibre typically uses its stealth equipment to sneak within strike range of larger Rebel capital ships, disables it with ion cannons, latch onto the hull and uses cutting lasers to open it. A squadron of Zero-G spacetroopers then enters the larger ship to take control of it.

Anemoi-class Escort Corvette

The Anemoi-class Corvette fulfills the role of an anti-starfighter platform with its many laser cannons, while still retaining the speed to escape larger enemy vessels. The MISS system allows it to intercept incoming fighters and missiles with great accuracy. A quadruple redundant system, an improvement on the Mon Calamari's triple redundancy, allows immense survivability for the Anemoi. The four block-like projections at the front of the vessel house the generators. Two massive forward-fixed tractor beams are intended to act like netting and catch all starfighters in front of the vessel. The downside is that the tractor beams wide range can also trap friendly starfighters. Intended to be mass-produced, the Anemoi relies on shields and speed to survive encounters with other capital ships.

SR-7 Cougar Strike Corvette

The SR-7 Cougar is a new classification of Corvette, referred to as a ‘Strike’ Corvette (though plans are in motion to add a Capital ship class referred to as ‘Striker’ to more accurately classify such vessels.) Somewhat smaller than a CR-90, the Cougar is designed to get in fast while absorbing incoming fire, let loose its devastating firepower, and get out at high speed; almost a huge torpedo bomber or gunship in design philosophy. It is well armored and shielded for its size, and is faster than any other Corvette design, in keeping with its intended role. In addition, it possesses several features designed to enhance its performance as an attack craft.

The Cougar is normally fast and well-shielded for its size- 90 MGLT and 500 SBD respectively- but during attack runs, special secondary generators are engaged, boosting speed to an astounding 110 MGLT (equal to many modern starfighters) and reinforcing the shields to 750 SBD. In ‘Boost’ mode, the Cougar can survive or avoid heavy bombardment long enough to fire all its weapons at point-blank range, then evade fire long enough to escape. Boost mode cannot be maintained for long periods- the overstress causes a great deal of wear on the power systems and engine components- but the extra edge is an incalculable benefit in modern warfare. The main firepower of the Cougar is in the ‘wing’ mounts, which consist of four heavy turbolaser cannons and two ML-20 Rotary Launch systems.

The ML-20 is a relatively new design, but is finding favor with the NIF Navy. Instead of a self-loading tube or battery, the ML-20 uses a rotating drum holding 6 proton torpedoes. The rotary design allows the torpedoes to be fired in quick succession, putting a flight of 6 into space in a tight group, rather than in a staggered line as with most standard launchers. The drum is reloaded from the internal magazines, so salvoes of 6 torpedoes can be launched in 5-second intervals. On the Cougar, this means that salvoes of 12 torpedoes can be fired at point-blank range using up the space a single-tube launcher would take. In addition, the ML-20 is designed to accept multiple types of rounds, with a configurable magazine and feed. The launcher can even fire MG-19 Capital-Grade Proton Torpedoes (though these do not fit in the drum, and must be launched one at a time per launcher.) Secondary armament consists of four quad laser cannon turrets, one dorsal, one ventral, and one each on the port and starboard sides. If the design has a weakness, it is in its specialization. Everything on the vessel is intended to support its main duties, and every square centimeter of onboard space is packed with engines, shield generators, and sensors and ECM. The crew of 20 is fairly tiny for a capital ship, and lacks much capacity for boarding, though the vessel has adequate berthing space and amenities for long deployments.

Tartan-class Corvette

The Tartan is a patrol ship, similar to IPVs and other system patrol craft, except that the Tartan has a hyperdrive which gives it long-range capacity beyond a single star system. It was designed to handle increased pirate and smuggler activity in the early days of the Rebellion. It is a speedy ship armed with fast rapid-targeting laser cannon batteries capable of tracking many fast moving individual targets at once - perfect for anti-starfighter screening. Although the ship has some structural weaknesses, it is fast and maneuverable enough to avoid being targeted in sensitive areas. It is a very effective screening and escort vessel, but lacking any heavy weaponry means it must run in the face of larger ships. The Tartan was likely the best screening vessel in the Galaxy until the advent of newer ships like the Lancer-class Light Frigate. It is ever better in some respects, such as the two large and six smaller sublight engines which gives it speed and agility similar to the Carrack-class Light Cruiser. This enables the ship to engage and pursue starfighters effectively. The Tartan has been noted for its effective energy distribution netweork which allowed it to practically double its firepower by draining shield and engine energy. It is also quite clear that the success of the Tartan inspired Damorian Manufacturing's later success with the Carrack-class Cruiser, with the later ship very thoroughly addressing the problem of structural weaknesses.

DP20-class Corvette

Cousin of the CR-90 Corvette, these small vessels pack as much firepower as a ship twice its size. The Corellian Gunship was designed to be two things, fast and deadly. Engines fill more than half of its interior structure while the external hull mounts a large number of turbolaser batteries, and quad laser cannons with 360 degree fire arcs in concert with its incredible speed and manoeuverability makes it an ideal anti-starfighter platform. With only 300 Metric Tons of cargo capacity left over, the ship is too crowded to hold any fighters or onboard troops.

Assassin-class Corvette

The class was designed and put into production since its predecessor, the CR90 Corellian Corvette, did not have sufficient firepower and was vulnerable in battle. The body of this vessel maintains the same general shape as its predecessor, although it has a different exterior design with a different engine array. It maintains eight large and three small engines all in a complete compact section. The Modified Corvette has been seen in use by the Galactic Empire, New Republic and other organizations and groups. The Empire has used this craft in its System Patrol Squadrons and for armed transports.

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

CR90-class Corvette

The CR90 is widely known as the Corellian Corvette. It is found everywhere in the galaxy and can be found in use by everyone, including the Imperial navy. It is a highly versatile, multi-purpose craft with an internal modular structure that can be used as troop transport, light escort, cargo or passenger carrier depending on configuration. It is very fast, which helped earn its nickname Blockade Runner, since it was often used by smugglers and escapees to pass and outrun planetary blockades. Due to the mounting of the corvette's weapons, there is a narrow blind spot along both sides and the rear of this vessel, making the corvette vulnerable to attack from these areas. They also are regarded as vulnerable since the primary solar collector and stabilizer fin are located dorsally, and when disabled can cripple the ship's ability to maneuver. At least one variant of these easily modifiable ships use an 8-turret configuration.

Communications Ships

New Imperial Federation - Navy Order Of Battle

Broadcast-class Communications Ship

The Broadcast-class communications ship is part of an intended pair together with the DeepSpace-class sensor ship. It was introduced shortly after the release of the Imperator-class Star Destroyer. This vessel is designed as a fleet communications and coordinations ship, often acting as a relay with the base when the fleet is far away from sector command. However, the ship also has a large sensor array which can detect enemy activity long before the fleet is detected, giving it an important tactical advantage. Only the largest capital ships sport more powerful sensor arrays.

In addition to long range communications, the ship supports quick and clear transmissions within the fleet. Most of the interior is taken up by sensitive communications technology. While it sports some armament and onboard fighter craft for defence, the Broadcast-class is not meant to engage in hostile activities, and typically stays out of range of enemy ships.

DeepSpace-class Sensor Ship

This ship was developed together with the Broadcast-class communications ship and came into service shortly after the famous Imperator-class. They were meant to take care of all needs of dedicated recon and communications for the Imperial Navy. Although not a lot of documentation covers the exploits of these ships, it is but another testimony to their success. While the Broadcast-class is meant to operate as part of fleets, the DeepSapce-class is meant to be independant. It requires only a small crew, perfect for long-duty missions deep in unknown territories or enemy space. A large part of the ship is dedicated to an immense sensor wing containing extremely sensitive equipment, enabling the crew to get a very exact and detailed view of the surrounding space. Its sensor range is one of the largest in the Empire. The DeepSpace is only lightly armed, but has enough firepower to deal with pirates in the depths of space. For additional protection of the ship, there is half a squadron of fighters onboard. The ship also houses another 6 TIE/rc reconnaissance fighters to help completing the sensor view on difficult space terrain, such as asteroid belts, rifts, etc. It also carries 20 self-guided sensor buoys which can be deployed up to 100 ly away from the mothership.

IPV/1 System Patrol Craft

System patrol craft are any of a number of capital ship design that fall between the 100 meter minimum and 250 meters, although some larger ships are relegated to this duty due to lack of available vessels. They follow the primary directive to apprehend smuggling vessels, but they also serve as a star system's first line of defense against pirates, rebels, and hostile aliens as well. Most of the vessels that fall into this class are either designed or modified for speed and fire power. Built to engage in "pre-jump" combat, patrol craft make maximum use of speed and maneuverability to catch fleeing vessels before they can escape to hyperspace. System patrol craft typically contain no hyperdrive engines, instead relying on powerful sublight engines to make their way within a system.

IPV/h Patrol Craft

System patrol craft are any of a number of capital ship design that fall between the 100 meter minimum and 250 meters, although some larger ships are relegated to this duty due to lack of available vessels. System patrol craft typically contain no hyperdrive engines, instead relying on powerful sublight engines to make their way within a system.

The IPV/h is however different from its predecessors, the IR-3F and the IPV-1. It can travel between systems (IPV/hyperdrive), have more firepower than the standard IPV-1 and can carry a modular TIE hangar attached to the hull. This tactical advantage is often used to a surprise effect against criminal elements, which is why the ship doesn't need faster sublight engines. The hangar module lowers the ships maneuverability with 50%, but most captains prefer to keep it on.
